00:00Good morning, everyone. How's everyone doing?
00:07As Sarah said, my name is Steve Nissen. I'm president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
00:13Excited to be your host today as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce welcomes to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Mindy Kaling.
00:28OK, before we start formally, let's give a big shout out to our fans who are watching around the world on our live stream presented by our media partner Variety.
00:40Thank you, Variety. And, you know, for these ceremonies, we sort of invade a real neighborhood for a while in front of stores and venues.
00:53In this case, a big thank you to the Harlan Apartments for helping us with this special ceremony as we occupy their front door.
01:06All right. The Hollywood Walk of Fame recognizes achievements in the categories of motion picture, radio, live theater, live performance, sports, entertainment, recording and television.
01:19Today, in the category of television, we honor Mindy Kaling with star number, count them, two thousand eight hundred on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
01:34Now, before we invite Mindy to the stage, let me tell you a little bit about our honoree.
01:41She does just about everything. She is an Emmy nominated writer, a Tony Award winning producer and New York Times bestselling author, director and actor.
01:54She's been named one of the brightest voices of her generation.

02:09Last February, she received the Producers Guild of America's prestigious Norman Lear Achievement Award in television.

02:34In twenty twelve, Mindy was named one of Time Magazine's one hundred most influential people in the world.
02:45At age twenty four, and I was going to say, she's done all this by age twenty four, so now the good stuff.
02:51At age twenty four, Mindy joined the eight person writing staff of NBC's The Office.
02:57During her eight seasons at the show, she wrote twenty three episodes.
03:03In parens, it says far more than any other writer for that show.
03:09So that's a good trivia piece.
03:13When you go to a cocktail party, just tell people, you know that Mindy Kaling wrote more episodes of that great show, The Office, than anyone else.
03:21She was nominated for an Emmy, which was the first of many firsts for Mindy Kaling, the first woman of color to be nominated for an Emmy in any writing category.
03:40Mindy is the creator, star, and executive producer of The Mindy Project.
03:48I wonder where you got that title from, The Mindy Project, for which she wrote twenty four of the one hundred and seventeen episodes, produced over six seasons.
03:58In twenty twenty, Mindy released the critically acclaimed series Never Have I Ever for Netflix.
04:08Season one reached forty million homes in its first four weeks of release, with the fourth and final season premiering last year to critical acclaim.

05:06Additionally, Mindy co-created and is executive producer of the new Netflix WBTV comedy Running Point.
05:21Starring Kate Hudson, scheduled for release in about ten days, on February twenty seventh.
05:29Alright, in between all her ventures, and at this point I have to note, some of us are challenged to read two books.
05:40Mindy has published two best selling New York Times books, comedic memoirs.
05:47One is, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and Other Concerns.
05:52And the second is, Why Not Me?
05:55In addition to a collection of essays titled, Nothing Like I Imagined.
06:01Most recently, Mindy launched her imprint, Mindy's Book Studio, for Amazon Publishing.
06:07With the mission of publishing titles from new and emerging diverse voices.
06:14Mindy is a, no, pancan is short for pancreatic cancer.
06:18And she does this to honor her mother, who she lost to pancreatic cancer.
06:24She's also a supporter of the UN Refugee Agency.
06:28And has partnered with that organization to create content and help bring awareness to the plight of refugees all around the world.
06:38She's widely respected as a champion for diversity in Hollywood.
06:43And is dedicated to using her projects to tell the powerful stories of strong willed and ambitious women of color.
06:51Placing emphasis on creating writers rooms that reflect that commitment to diversity.
06:59There's so much more and she's done so much.
