People take part in a two-hour "digital detox" night organised by the "Offline Club" in London, with over 150 young adults aged mostly between 20 and 35 eager to spend an evening off their screens. According to the UK's telecoms regulator Ofcom, young Brits spend an average of four hours and three minutes a day glued to their smartphones.

00:00Are you willing to give your phone over?
00:03Good, that's what I like to hear.
00:07I always forget about my headphones.
00:16Any of our events before?
00:18First time?
00:30No.
01:00People really do want to get away from their phones.
01:21I can spend anywhere between six and eight hours on my phone a day,
01:25especially on the weekend if I'm not working.
01:28It's compulsive and almost addictive in a way.
01:41You don't realise the extent of the addiction.
01:44You're not conscious that you are in fact addicted.
01:49But then when you are released of the phone,
01:52you realise, oh actually, I'm feeling the urge to look at my phone somehow
01:58and scroll and look at random content for no reason at all.
02:04It's quite freeing actually, to be in a moment without it.
02:23I'll take you to the bathroom.
02:25Wait, can I hide you guys?
