00:04Prejudices and common places on diabetes
00:07have a significant impact on everyone's life.
00:10Common places are often wrong,
00:13dictated by the lack of knowledge we had in the past
00:17and linked above all to type 2 diabetes,
00:20which is certainly a preventable form,
00:23but, for example, the most common place
00:26is that it is sought in some way.
00:29This is absolutely not the case,
00:32but this puts people in a position
00:35to have a further difficulty
00:38to face their own life.
00:41So in the world of school,
00:44in the world of work,
00:47children who are not brought to school
00:50for misinformation, for ignorance,
00:53because we do not know exactly what diabetes is
00:56and how it should be managed,
00:59but also in the world of work
01:02and also in the moment when
01:05we approach any social environment.
01:08Common places must be fought.
01:11The first fundamental thing
01:14that we have been repeating for years
01:17is no longer to speak of diabetics,
01:20but of people with diabetes,
01:23so that they are not sick of a difficult disease,
01:26but to bring them back to the center of the person
01:29means to give them dignity.
01:32Associations are on the side of people with diabetes every day.
01:35When a child is not taken on a trip,
01:38the volunteers of the association
01:41act immediately to explain to the teachers
01:44what needs to be done,
01:47some precautions that are essential
01:50and to bring them on a trip means to make them understand
01:53that a normal life with this pathology
01:56is possible and it is essential to do it
01:59especially at that age,
02:02but also in the world of work.
02:05It is often prejudice and ignorance about the disease
02:08that block assumptions,
02:11that block certain aspects.
02:14Associations are active, as I said,
02:17and we are always on the side of patients.
