00:00There is nothing in the world quite like shopping in Dubai, a city that is known for having
00:12some of the largest shopping malls in the world and the best fashion collections.
00:16People usually flock from all over the region and the world to shop here.
00:22Even store assistants are hired from different nationalities including Chinese, Russian,
00:27Arabs, Indians, and Filipinos in order to serve customers better in their own language.
00:33It's such a bespoke experience.
00:35Now in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Dubai's malls are open at 100% capacity and
00:41the sale signs seem to have removed the fear factor in shopping.
00:46Every summer for the last 23 years, Dubai has hosted the Dubai Summer Surprises Festival,
00:51a mega shopping event that was created to give people something to do during the hot
00:56summer months.
00:57At this time of the year, many expats usually fly home, so there's a bit of a summer lull.
01:02However, the festival was a way to ensure people getting out of the house and supporting
01:07the economy.
01:08Today, the festival is more than just for shopping.
01:11There's games, hotel deals, fireworks, dining deals, and so much more.
01:16I'm in the changing room trying some dresses on, and these are at 60% off, which is a very
01:25big deal for a place like All Saints, generally very expensive.
01:28So the question is, as I sit here in this changing room trying on clothes, is the sale
01:34worth it?
01:35Yeah, it is.
01:36I managed to find a lot of stuff that's discounted, and then there's an additional discount on
01:43the discount.
01:45So a dress that's formerly maybe 800 dirhams is now down to 300, which is a pretty good
01:57deal.
01:58The mall itself is quite crowded, people are very excited, people are out spending money.
02:04I'm tempted to spend a lot of money, but I'm trying not to.
02:08I think the sale is good enough for people to go out there and be spending.
02:13A lot of stores that aren't offering a discount are offering a special promotion.
02:18Buy one, get one free.
02:20Buy two, get one free.
02:21So there's a lot of opportunity, especially at the Magellan Fotein malls, because that's
02:26where the 12-hour sale is happening.
02:28Some of these sales are continuing until the 29th of August, so this is a good chance to
02:33actually go out and buy stuff that you need.
02:37The DSS sales aren't just about clothes.
02:46There's a lot that you can buy.
02:48You can buy home furnishings, you can get home accessories, electronics, a whole bunch
02:54of stuff basically.
02:56Most of the shops are participating in the sale.
02:59Some places will have 25%, some places will have a buy one get one free.
03:04Only very few have 90% actually, so you have to really dig to find that 90% price tag.
03:11Otherwise, it is a very good sale to check out.
03:16I mean, it's lasting until August 29th, so you basically have an opportunity to go all
03:22summer.
03:23The 12-hour sale is the main one that you want to check out, but that is only one day
03:28only, and it ends on Thursday at 10pm.
03:33All in all, it is worth checking out.
03:36It's a good reason to get out of the house and a good excuse to do the things that you've
03:41been missing out on over the last few months because of the pandemic.
04:02Thanks for watching.
