A mostly cloudy morning throughout the UK with southwest England and northern Wales most likely to see some bright spells. A band of rain will push north-eastwards from the early hours, moving across southwest England and into Wales, Northern Ireland, north England and Scotland. Eastern areas of England will stay mostly dry. Feeling slightly warmer, especially in the southwest - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 19/02/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Tom Morgan.

00:00Hi there. After a dry but quite cold start to February so far, a big change is on the
00:05way as we go through the next few days, turning much, much milder but also wetter and windier.
00:10And out towards the west, we've already got that change underway today, a band of rain
00:13pushing eastwards across Wales, Northern Ireland and South West England. But eastern areas
00:18of the UK will stay mostly dry after a chilly and frosty start in places and a little bit
00:23of brightness perhaps through this afternoon. Further west though, the next batch of wet
00:27weather comes into Wales, South West England and Northern Ireland later this afternoon.
00:32It will be a much, much milder picture out towards the west compared to recent days,
00:36temperatures reaching 12 or 13 degrees, so well above average for the time of year, but
00:40still quite chilly out towards the east, just highs of 5 or 6 degrees in many places. And
00:45it will be quite a windy day, particularly across northern Scotland where gales are possible
00:50around some coasts. Through this evening, that next batch of rain starts to push its
00:55way eastwards across the UK, some heavy bursts of rain in places and also even the chance
01:00of the odd rumble of thunder here and there, particularly out towards western coasts. Stay
01:05mostly dry across south east England, but I wouldn't want to rule out a little bit of
01:08patchy rain here and there. And turning increasingly windy and mild as we go through the night,
01:13those temperatures really rising as we go towards the morning. So definitely a frost
01:18free start tomorrow morning. Temperatures in the west, 12 or 13 degrees as we begin
01:24the morning, well above average for the time of year. But it will be windy with those higher
01:29temperatures, so particularly unsettled picture as we go through the next few days. Low pressure
01:35dominating the Atlantic, bringing in those mild southwesterly winds, pushing the cold
01:40weather back towards eastern Europe. A wet and windy picture for many of us on Thursday,
01:44spills of rain heavy in places. Again, not much in the way of rain down across the south
01:49east and far south of England. Following on the main band of rain, we will see a mixture
01:53of sunny spells and scattered heavy and blustery showers, potentially with the odd rumble of
01:58thunder mixed in there as well. But look at these temperatures on Thursday, well above
02:03average for the time of year and temperatures we haven't seen for several weeks. 12 to 14
02:08degrees Celsius. In any brightness we could even see 15 degrees, so very, very much milder
02:13than it has been. But it will be quite windy, particularly across the west. We could see
02:17gales in some coastal regions, so that will accentuate and make it feel as mild as those
02:21temperatures suggest. The bigger picture shows it staying unsettled through Friday, potentially
02:27some very strong winds for a time through the Irish Sea. A bit of a respite, but still
02:31a few showers around on Saturday, and then further wet and windy weather could see this
02:35area of low pressure moving in for the second half of the weekend. Make sure you subscribe
