Finally, Suella Braverman has been sacked as the UK’s Home Secretary, and it’s about time too. Never has Britain seen such a toxic, divisive interior minister who has, through a series of statements and policy moves, catered to the far right of the conservative base while demonising minorities and even the homeless.

00:00Rishi Sunak's decision to sack his controversial Home Secretary, Suala Bravaman, has created
00:09quite a stir in British politics.
00:11Ms Bravaman has been making headlines for the last year or so, mostly for her rather
00:16controversial and toxic comments and policies, whether it was on migration, immigration,
00:21LGBTQ rights, and even the homeless.
00:24Her latest comments on a pro-Palestinian march, which she described as a hate march, and her
00:31accusation that the British police was biased in its handling of protesters, actually tipped
00:36things over the edge and got her sacked.
00:39Now the question is, what is the impact this could have on the Conservative Party?
00:43Well, the jury is out.
00:45Many believe that Rishi Sunak, by sacking Suala Bravaman, is trying to appeal once again
00:49to the more centrist and more liberal Conservative voters who have been alienated because of
00:54people like her.
00:56Although he also risks alienating the far-right within the Tory party, and she, Suala Bravaman,
01:02could end up potentially challenging him for the leadership position within the Conservative
01:07Party.
01:08It's very clear from her letter to Rishi Sunak that she's not going to go away quietly.
01:12So how this plays out for the Conservatives will be interesting.
01:16At the end of the day though, none of it may be enough to ward off a defeat by Labour
01:21in the next general election.
