00:00All Things Glitter and Sparkles are on show here in Victoria Park today for Fair Day.
00:07It's the first major event in Sydney's Mardi Gras Festival which runs for two weeks and
00:12it's kicked off this morning with dog shows, drag performances, karaoke, anything you name
00:18it.
00:19One of the people who've been involved in this morning's festivities is Etcetera Etcetera
00:24so can you tell me how excited are you to be here for Fair Day?
00:28Well I'm not sure if you can tell but my tail is wagging right now.
00:31I just judged the Doggy Wood Dog pageant and I can rate it K-9 out of 10.
00:35I love that.
00:36So who was your favourite pooch that you saw this morning?
00:39I mean myself in the mirror when I woke up but apart from that we had this miniature
00:44Dachshund and it was so low to the ground it was crazy, I don't even know how those
00:48things work.
00:49They keep coming up with new dogs every day so I loved it all.
00:53And of course last year's Fair Day was unfortunately cancelled due to the Sydney asbestos dramas
00:59of 2024.
01:00How great is it to see so many people here?
01:02Oh it's fantastic.
01:03I mean Fair Day is one of my favourite events on the calendar.
01:05It's all about community.
01:07Everyone comes together for one big day that isn't about partying but it's about sharing
01:12stories and having so many health organisations here.
01:15We're just reminding people of the real spirit behind Mardi Gras.
01:18It's about activism, it's about community and it's about turning up during the daytime
01:22and having a good time.
01:24Wonderful.
01:25So this is just the start of the Mardi Gras Festival.
01:27It'll run right through until the end of the month and culminate with the Mardi Gras Parade
01:31on the 1st of March.
