00:00In the countdown to the next general election, we've been profiling a series of women politicians
00:08cutting across party lines. And today, that is the Shiv Sena's Member of Parliament from
00:13the Rajya Sabha, Priyanka Chaturvedi. Today, she's one of the most visible and prominent
00:18faces of the Shiv Sena and one of its most articulate voices. But Priyanka Chaturvedi's
00:23journey into politics actually happened by accident. She was in marketing and communication
00:29before the 26-11 terror attacks spurred her to actively join politics and help people.
00:34She was part of the Congress for nine years before she switched sides to the Shiv Sena.
00:39In this conversation with us, Priyanka has talked extensively about what it's like to
00:43be a first-time MP at a time when Parliament has been undermined with a lot of acrimony,
00:49fewer debates and discussions, and fewer bills that are actually scrutinized. She was one
00:53of 12 MPs who were in fact suspended controversially back in 2021 for alleged unruly behavior.
