00:00It was established in 1958 by my grandfather, Mr. Dhanji Muthiram.
00:20At that point of time, the economic prospects were not so good in India and people were
00:27looking at overseas options.
00:29At that time, Mr. Vasu Shroff, who was based in Dubai, had got in touch with my grandfather.
00:38He had given us this opportunity to come to the Middle East and try to look for any business
00:49opportunities in our line.
00:51He was a skilled craftsman.
00:53In Goldsmith, he used to make jewellery manually.
00:57From there on, he had started with a goldsmith workshop and gradually, over the years, we
01:07were getting good response from the local public, from the customers here in Dubai,
01:13and we had shifted to retail jewellery.
01:16We had opened our store in 1958, that was the year we started our retail operations.
01:21It was also supported by my father, Mr. Jagdish and Mr. Keerthi.
01:29My father established this business in 1958 when I was just one year old.
01:35After two years, I bought it in Dubai and my whole childhood was spent in Dubai.
01:39Business-wise, after education, I started from primary school here in Dubai.
01:46My brother and I were here during the early days.
01:49After that, we joined the business in 1975.
01:53My elder brother came two years before me and we have improved our business step-by-step.
01:59In those days, we had challenges of electricity.
02:04There was no machinery to make the jewellery, necklaces, rings, everything was handmade.
02:11The production would take a long time.
02:14Mostly, it was customised jewellery.
02:16We would get orders from the local population.
02:20We used to make that initially as a goldsmith.
02:23If you want to make a ring or make a bangle, it used to take more than one week to finish it.
02:31These were the challenges in making jewellery in those days.
02:34I've been in the business for the last 15 years.
02:37It's been...
02:39We have totally different challenges as compared to what they've had.
02:43We are very grateful to the UAE government.
02:46They supported us to create ourselves, like this communication.
02:52Now, UAE has become our home.
02:56We love UAE.
02:58They support all of the Asian...
03:00All communities, not just Asian, you can say.
03:02All international communities, their prosperity and support.
