Felicity Jones is nominated for her second Academy Award for her role in 'The Brutalist' but she was also attending the Newport Beach Film Festival in London, where she was named an 'Artist of Distinction' alongside Emma Corrin and Sharon Horgan. Also being recognised at Raffles at the OWO in London was Sir Stephen Fry who was being named an 'Icon'.    She discussed what she learned from her first Oscar nomination experience alongside Eddie Redmayne for 'The Theory of Everything' in 2015. Report by Burtonj. 00:00The first time, 10 years ago, it was all kind of hectic and we really did go to the opening

00:06of an envelope. Eddie and I were just going to everything.

00:12Congratulations on being recognised as an Artist of Distinction.

00:16That's a pretty big title. What does it mean to you? You're in great company as well with

00:21Sharon Horgan and Emma Corrin. What does an Artist of Distinction mean to you?

00:24Well, it feels very grand, doesn't it? I feel like I should have a badge or something,

00:28rosary, to celebrate it. It's a lovely phrase actually, an Artist. I always feel quite,

00:35I get a little shiver to be described as an Artist because in the end that's what it is.

00:41That's the endeavour. So it's just a great opportunity to get people together and to

00:48celebrate something I love, which is cinema and TV. And as you say, in such great company with

00:56Emma and Sharon and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone up on stage. So much of this

01:03industry is about people and community and how do we bring people together and create ideas. So

01:08these kind of events are a perfect opportunity for that. It's great that you three are in good

01:13company with each other, but we're working our way up towards Icon, which is Stephen Fry over

01:17there. Have you met the man before? What experiences and memories do you have of Stephen Fry?

01:22Yeah, we have met and he's always, he's such an institution, isn't he, in himself and such a

01:34great champion of art really. And I loved watching him. I remember when I was much younger going to

01:43the BAFTAs and seeing him presenting when it was back at the Opera House and he just has such a

01:48light, easy touch, doesn't he? A very special person. Congratulations on your second Oscar

01:55nomination as well this year, which it's great to have you at this time because I know how manic

01:59these award seasons can be. Are you more prepared now that it's the second time around for an Oscar

02:03nomination? I don't know if I feel any more prepared. I think I can enjoy it a little bit

02:09more second time around. I can sort of, yeah, it's not quite so. I mean, I felt like the first time

02:16ten years ago it was all kind of hectic and we really did go to the opening of an envelope.

02:22You know, we didn't. Eddie and I were just going to everything. So it's been nice. In some ways,

02:28it's been a little bit more relaxed this time around. And again, it'll just be so nice for

02:33everyone in the community to get together and celebrate this amazing year of cinema. Just some

02:38exquisite, exquisite films. Yeah, the Brits have done so well and Joe Alwyn's in the room as well,

02:42so I'm sure you guys will be catching up. Is there like the Bruce Lee chat group going like

02:48throwing each other like award emojis? If only you could see there's a whole there's a whole

02:54world of chat. Yeah, well, we are such a actually very close team. And that was so much of the way

03:01that it was shot. You know, Brady and Mona, they really bring people together. It's a very familial

03:07experience. So we've been supporting each other along the way and I made some great friends. So

03:14it's a friendship as well as working together. So nice to hear. Congratulations on your success.
