00:00 I am taking the opportunity to just gift myself with a little bit more of my language.
00:06 Regardless of whether or not I get to say it on stage, I want to have a sentiment of
00:11 gratitude that I can carry forward the rest of my life in my language.
00:14 Hi, I'm Lily Gladstone and I'm nominated for Best Actress for Killers of the Flower Moon.
00:27 I was on the phone with my parents already. I was FaceTiming with them.
00:30 You know, when the film premiered in LA and there were so many Osages on the carpet here
00:34 at the Chinese Theater, I felt like maybe it was appropriate since I couldn't be there that I hold
00:39 it down in Osage country for them. So I decided to do the same thing. I was on the Osage reservation
00:45 in Pasco, Oklahoma FaceTiming with my folks. And my mom had, you know, like you do, she was filming
00:52 the TV so I could see when it came in. And I was like, "No, Mom, I can't read that. I can't see
00:56 anything. Flip the camera around." So she was holding it up. I got to learn about my nomination
01:00 on my parents' faces, their reaction.
01:03 Definitely going to have my family with me. It's, you know, my dad's been telling me since I was
01:12 eight, nine years old that I would be here. And, you know, you're a kid, you're like,
01:16 "Okay, it's a platitude." Or you're just like, "Okay, you're right." You know, it's just kind
01:21 of always been something he's lightly teased me about over the years. So it's just right that he's
01:25 there. Same with my mom. No, I would really love it if the representation continues and we can
01:30 bring some people in from the film from Osage country who actually, honestly, are already,
01:35 so many are going to be there because I just share this historic nomination with Scott George,
01:40 first Native American nominated for Best Original Song from the Osage Nation. So
01:45 just happy to be sharing this moment with him and them, all of the singers.
01:52 I've never had those moments where I just imagine what a speech would be,
01:56 but I am taking the opportunity to just gift myself with a little bit more of my language.
02:04 Think about a couple of things that I would want to say. A lot of the language revitalization
02:09 effort back home, one thing that we kind of talk about is just writing a mantra for yourself or
02:15 writing a prayer or writing just something that you want to be able to say. So I think
02:22 regardless of whether or not I get to say it on stage, I want to have a sentiment of
02:27 gratitude that I can carry forward the rest of my life in my language. So that's one thing I'm
02:32 working on. Best and most unexpected advice that I got was from my idol, Kate Blanchett's been my
02:41 favorite actress since I've developed my own taste in film. And since I thought maybe film acting is
02:46 what I wanted to do, the year that she was nominated for Elizabeth just blew my mind.
02:50 And of course, like I was rooting for her so hard to win that year. You know, she and Philip Seymour
02:54 Hoffman are my two, those are the two actors that I've always just studied and hold to and watch
03:02 everything that they've ever done. So, and Kate's been so incredibly generous through this whole
03:07 period. She introduced the film in London and Leo and I were there and while we were backstage
03:12 before she went out and just speaking all of these beautiful accolades about our movie,
03:17 she gave me the advice to take my adaptogenic mushrooms to get through the season, which has
03:24 been incredible advice because you know, the nervous system needs a little extra help. Not
03:29 the advice I expected to get from my favorite actress in the world, but it's very, very tangible,
03:34 very actionable and very, very beneficial. I'm going to sleep. I do have plans to go see Cat
03:45 Power perform Bob Dylan on the 13th. So that's going to be my celebration. She's amazing. She's,
03:51 she actually loves the film. She reached out to me, she slid into my DMs and we've been like,
03:57 I mean, I love her. Every character I've played since I've been doing film,
04:01 I have playlists and there's always Cat Power on my playlist. So yeah, that was, that's my
04:07 little pre gift to myself, you know, congratulations on getting through the campaign.
