00:00Our coverage continues right now with AccuWeather correspondent Leslie Hudson this morning.
00:05She joins us from Chicago, Illinois with an update and you know some slippery travel last night but
00:11you know Leslie things seem to be moving just fine this morning.
00:19Yeah you know Chicago has taken this in stride Bernie. I know mishaps here in the downtown area
00:25traffic moving very smoothly. On the interstate as you try and get out of the city there has
00:30definitely been some more accidents reported today. We've definitely seen that as an issue
00:35but so far things are doing pretty good here. Officially at O'Hare they got just under three
00:40inches of snow and it's moved out as you can see over my shoulder the city and the skies are
00:46starting to clear. It looks like we've got some auto cumulus clouds there off in the distance if
00:51I've got my classification right there but and of course Millennium Park over my shoulder. Here
00:57in the city they were clearing the streets late last night to try and be preemptive for the
01:02commute today because a lot of folks stayed home yesterday. The city officials were telling folks
01:07to you know stay off the roads if they could and only travel if it was absolutely necessary
01:12and we did see a much lighter flow yesterday than today. Today definitely looking much like a
01:16typical day that you would see in February in downtown Chicago. A lot of Chicagoans are upset
01:22that they had to take the day off of work and didn't really need to do so but some folks that
01:26we talked to yesterday actually are missing some snow and are actually hoping to get a little bit
01:32more by the weekend. I'm missing the snow like I really enjoyed having you know the the the cold
01:40and the winter snow just for a couple days you know we're not really getting much of it anymore.
01:45I feel like we're getting things more in February and we can even get stuff into March and maybe a
01:50freak snow in in April.
01:57So they're anticipating another round of snow here as you know tomorrow but it's not expecting
02:03to be a big snow event just a couple of more inches of snow is what they're anticipating on
02:08Friday. The other big component is the bitterly cold temperatures. It is definitely colder today
02:13it's in the teens right now the wind chills in the single digits they're expecting a really really
02:18cold arctic air mass to kind of filtrate here as we head into Sunday. The concern at least today
02:23is that there's going to be some icy conditions because the snow is not sticking it's melting
02:27and very similar to some of these other winter storms where it's warmed up and then cooled back
02:31down. There's been some icy conditions that had to navigate on the road so that's what we're
02:35going to be looking for today. So far though things are going to be clearing up and staying
02:40very cold throughout the day. Reporting live from downtown Chicago I'm Leslie Hudson back to you.
02:45All right stay warm Leslie we'll check back with you later on this morning.
