00:00Manila Overseas Press Club, or MOPC, awarded an award to PCO Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez

00:07for his recognition of the power of secrecy in the field of government and serving the country.

00:14Secretary Chavez also gave importance to the unity of the media and the government.

00:23Batikans and well-known personalities in the media industry were honored

00:28with the MOPC Grand Journalism Award in Makati.

00:32The Manila Overseas Press Club is considered the most prestigious

00:36and longest existing press club in the country,

00:39led by presidents and other officials of several media networks.

00:44Some of those who were recognized are the CEO of IBC 13,

00:49Atty. Jimmy Policarpio as Media Turnaround Story of the Year,

00:53Mark Logan, and others who were recognized in the field of propaganda.

00:58Presidential Communications Office Secretary Hon. Cesar Chavez

01:03was also honored with the Distinguished Service in Media and Government Award.

01:07In a message read by PCO Undersecretary Claudine Marie Caparon

01:11to Secretary Chavez,

01:13she reminded him of the importance of proper propaganda

01:17and the importance of the efforts of the administration

01:21of President Ferdinand Marquez Jr. to spread fake news.

01:26Accuracy is a two-pronged responsibility.

01:29It includes ensuring the accuracy of our publications

01:33through a rigorous internal editorial process

01:36and protecting the people from disinformation.

01:40For fake news, misinformation and disinformation

01:44are an athema to the unity which President Bongbong Marquez

01:48actively seeks to foster.

01:51According to her,

01:52unity is a great help, not only to the media industry,

01:56but also to share the goals of the government

02:00in promoting the future of the people.

02:04Unity is more than a campaign slogan.

02:06It is a philosophy of governance

02:09that we as people must come together

02:11and contribute to building our collective future.

02:15Since 1945,

02:17MOPC has been established as an organization

02:20that promotes free speech and press freedom.
