00:00Kellen Moore, now the new head coach in New Orleans, as we expected at the end of his season as the offensive coordinator with the Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles.
00:10Scott, we spoke at length in the opening segment about what job Kellen Moore is undertaking in New Orleans.
00:17It is not going to be an easy one from the very start.
00:20For the offensive mind, that is more having to figure out the quarterback position and what that will mean for relative team success in the Big Easy.
00:28It is also, Scott, a difficult task for Philadelphia to fill, because now for the second time in three years, after both of their Super Bowl appearances, they're looking to make a coordinator hire.
00:40Luckily, Vic Fangio should stick around, and of course, that dominant defensive display on Sunday in New Orleans was really the difference.
00:48But after Super Bowl 57 for Philadelphia, they lost both Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon.
00:54The head coaching job, Steichen in Indy, Gannon in Arizona, and now Kellen Moore just two years later, the head coach in New Orleans.
01:03It is part of the downside, if you want to call it that, of success, although Philadelphia will take a Lombardi trophy if they have to hire a new offensive coordinator.
01:13But the Byrds are looking to do just that.
01:16There was always the wrinkle effect of a new head coach in New Orleans, and now Philadelphia having to fill an open spot in its coordinator room.
01:25Yeah, I would think the transition, Ben, and not only Philadelphia, but think about the other, you know, the number one team outside of Philadelphia, right, in the NFC, Detroit's got to fill two coordinator spots.
01:36So, but I would think if you hire within, it wouldn't be that big a deal, you know, if you hire the wide receivers coach, I'll just say, you know, he's got to have the same kind of philosophy, you would think, as Moore, right?
01:49Maybe tweak it a little bit here and there, but the players are familiar, same lingo, same coaches, you see, it's when you're bringing the guy from the outside, and he generally wants to put his system in, and that system is generally, you know, a little different than the current guy.
02:03That's where it's really got to be a pain in the butt, but it's the nature of the beast.
02:07I mean, what are you going to do?
02:08You know, you win a champion, like you said, you'll sacrifice losing a coordinator if you're going to win a Super Bowl every single year.
02:13We see Kansas City kind of adapt to that, and Philadelphia's going to have to do the same.
02:18You know, it's interesting, Scott, this is going to be the fourth offensive coordinator for Jalen Hurts in four years, despite the fact he just put together another phenomenal performance, not only leading Philadelphia to a Super Bowl championship,
02:32but of course, Super Bowl 59's MVP, and Jalen Hurts is now looked at, in my opinion, correctly as the guy in the NFC.
