On the same day that Canada announced it would begin the process of extraditing Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou to the United States, the Chinese national said she would file a civil complaint against the authorities there, in protest at her arrest. Wanzhou is being accused of a company-wide effort to commit fraud and breach US sanctions on Iran.

00:00The chief financial officer of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has said she will
00:06sue the Canadian authorities over her arrest last year. Meng Wanzhou, the
00:11daughter of the founder of Huawei, has been under Canadian supervision since
00:16her arrest in December of 2018. She is accused of facilitating and being part of
00:21a wider company effort to steal trade secrets from US companies and evade US
00:27sanctions specifically on Iran. Meng Wanzhou said that she would file a civil
00:32claim against the Canadian authorities on the same day that they announced
00:36extradition proceedings against her. It's unclear what the timeline is for her
00:42extradition to the US but experts do say that her legal claims against Canada may
00:48slow that process down. Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia Yahya al-Saman, the
00:52assistant president to the Shura Advisory Council, has said that the
00:57competent bodies would be soon debating whether to keep stores or retail shops
01:02open during prayer times. As it currently stands in Saudi Arabia stores
01:07typically have to close during the Adhan, which is the call to prayer, to allow
01:11people to pray on time. But many have been saying in recent times that this
01:15has a negative economic impact on the country's retail sector and that
01:20retailers should be allowed to stay open. Al-Saman said that the debate would
01:24happen first with a competent advisory body before then proceeding on to the
01:29main Shura Council, which as I said is Saudi Arabia's highest advisory body in
01:35the kingdom. And lastly Elon Musk has said on Twitter that he will be
01:39unveiling the Model Y or Tesla's SUV in LA on March 14th at the design studio.
01:45Musk said in a tweet that the Model Y would be 10% larger than the Model 3 and
01:51therefore 10% more expensive as well and would have a slightly decreased battery
01:56range. It's not clear what other details there are around the Model Y currently
02:00but we'll have them hopefully as they become available in the coming days.
