00:00A strong fourth quarter helped push Dubai Parks and Resorts overall visitation numbers
00:06for 2018 to 2.8 million, a 22% increase on the 2017 visitation numbers.
00:14The owners of the amusement park said the successful annual tourist visas being offered
00:19for the park and the annual pass had helped push the numbers up, in addition to the success
00:25of the La Pita Hotel, which is the on-site hotel at the amusement park.
00:29Also in addition to these moves, increased partnerships with Emirates Airlines and the
00:34Chinese payment system, UnionPay, had helped increase 2018's numbers in yet another successful
00:41year for the amusement park.
00:42Elsewhere, Chinese exports saw their steepest fall in two years last December, with exports
00:48reaching 4.4% and imports declining by 7.6%, in the latest sign that the world's second
00:55largest economy is losing momentum.
00:59The news sent stocks across Asia tumbling on Monday and has analysts worried that increased
01:04concerns around the trade war, which is yet to be resolved between the US and China, could
01:10yet have greater impact on the country's economy.
01:13And finally, Asian airline Cathay Pacific was faced with another blunder on Sunday as
01:18it offered travellers discounted rates for first class tickets.
01:23The airline said that it had offered a Singapore to Portugal route for $1,500 on first class,
01:31which is quite significantly less than the $16,000 it usually charges for that route.
01:38The airline said it would honour customers' tickets and wouldn't be asking them for a
01:42refund.
01:43It follows the news that Cathay Pacific last month had a large data breach and is the second
01:49consecutive time that the airline has accidentally priced first class tickets at a much lower rate.
01:56That's all for today. I'm Ed Clouds. Thank you very much for watching.
