01:04The best part is that you have to get the original good kithul jaggery.
01:08So if you have the good jaggery, the vattalappam will be really soft,
01:12dark in color, and good taste.
01:14This dish is unique because it is handed down from generation to generation
01:21in the Muslim community among their people.
01:24And any festival occasions in Sri Lanka, whether Eid or weddings especially,
01:30this has to be there.
01:33What I heard from the people in Sri Lanka is that actually this originally came
01:39from Malaysia and Indonesia.
01:42So somehow our people have perfected it.
