Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov slammed the U.S. for revealing Marc Fogel’s release before Moscow was ready to disclose details.

"Our American colleagues have chosen to announce the results, we have a different approach," Lavrov said, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality in diplomacy.

Fogel, a Pennsylvania teacher, was sentenced to 14 years in Russia for carrying medical marijuana.

The U.S.-Russia prisoner exchange was confirmed by the Kremlin, but Moscow has withheld the identity of the Russian citizen released as part of the deal until their arrival.
