00:09A strong earthquake devastated a string of mountainous towns over a swath of central
00:14Italy early today, trapping residents under hills of rubble, with at least 18 people believed
00:20killed and many missing. The quake struck in the early hours of the morning, when most
00:25people were asleep, raising homes and buckling roads in a cluster of towns and villages some
00:31170 km east of Rome.
00:34GCC foreign ministers are expected to meet their British and American counterparts to
00:39discuss the war in Yemen today. The meeting is reportedly expected to issue an ultimatum
00:45to Iran-backed al-Houthi rebels to return to the negotiating table or face a military
00:51campaign to liberate the capital Sanaa, which they occupy.
00:56India is investigating damage caused to French Scorpene submarines that are being built in
01:01the country after the leak of documents relating to the vessel's combat capabilities. The leak
01:07contains more than 22,000 pages outlining the secret capabilities of six submarines
01:14that French builder DCNS has designed for the Indian Navy. The submarines are being
01:19built at a state-run shipyard in Mumbai.
01:23Pop star Britney Spears is giving the clothes off her back to raise money for the Red Cross
01:28to benefit victims of widespread flooding in her home state of Louisiana. Spears, who's
01:33from Kentwood, tweeted out links to a fundraising site that offers $10 raffle tickets to win
01:40an outfit from her upcoming performance on Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards or a trip
01:46to New York to see her at the show in person.
01:50And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 44 degrees Celsius, dropping
