00:11His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister
00:15of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, on Monday launched Maidan 1, a retail and residential development
00:21in Dubai. The massive project will include the world's tallest residential tower called
00:25Dubai One Tower, the Maidan 1 Mall and an indoor ski slope expected to be the world's
00:31longest at 1.2 km. Located between the Maidan Hotel and Al Qail Road, the project will be
00:37developed by Maidan City Corporation and feature more than 300 restaurants, cafes and luxury
00:43retail store brands. Phase 1 of the project is expected to be finished by 2020.
00:49Pakistan executed a convicted child killer today brushing aside a storm of protests from
00:53rights groups that his confession had been extracted by torture and he was a minor at
00:58the time of the crime. Shafqat Hussain was hanged shortly before dawn at a jail in Karachi
01:04for killing a seven-year-old boy in 2004. United Nations rights experts have said Hussain's
01:09trial fell short of international standards and had urged Pakistan not to hang him without
01:15investigating claims he confessed under torture.
01:19Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have filed for divorce, seeking to end a nearly 13-year
01:23marriage between two members of rock music royalty. Stefani filed her petition citing
01:28irreconcilable differences and Rossdale filed a response shortly thereafter, court records
01:33show. The pair was married in September 2002 and had their first child together in 2006.
01:41Men In Black star Will Smith took the unusual step of publicly shooting down a report that
01:46he and his actress wife of 17 years had decided to divorce. Smith's marriage to Jada Pinkett
01:51Smith had been a subject of tabloid rumour for several years but on Monday, Smith, 46,
01:57said in a statement that Jada and he are not getting a divorce.
02:01And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 42 degrees Celsius dropping
02:06to 33 degrees at night.
