00:00I'm pretty sure we're here in Dubai, right?
00:29And it feels great.
00:30I mean, the movie is a movie, it's a fictional movie, and it was inspired by Dubai.
00:36Our writer came here and went to Abu Dhabi as well, but it's wonderful to be here in
00:40person.
00:41One of the main reasons we're here is because last year Dubai Cares and Oxfam partnered
00:45for this event, and so much money was raised that we were able to build many, many schools
00:50in Pakistan for very poor children.
00:52And people all around the world, Oxfam's all around the world, everyone talks about this
00:56event and how generous the people in Dubai were.
00:59So it's very exciting to be able to be here.
01:00It operates on different levels, and the campaign is not moving the way it should, to be honest.
01:07I think people are aware of what fair trade means in some areas, but it needs to really
01:12hit government level before it can make a difference.
01:15I profoundly believe that any campaigns against poverty are not just about handouts and charity
01:23and paternalistic relationships, they should give people an opportunity to trade their
01:28way out of poverty.
01:29And in order to do that, the rules have to be even, and they're not.
01:35Big economies like Europe and America close their markets to vulnerable countries, and
01:40they force the markets of the vulnerable countries to open, and people don't stand a chance under
01:45those circumstances.
01:46So it really does have to happen at government level.
01:48Dubai Cares and Oxfam have been doing some incredible work, and the way that they partnered
01:53with Dubai International Film Festival says very much about Dubai.
