00:00Music stars are flooding into the Emirates, the usual Hollywood suspects are back in court
00:10and having punch-ups, and Bollywood gets controversial. This is your weekly wrap for Tabloid.
00:14Bruno Mars is finally coming to Dubai. The Filipino-American singer-songwriter will perform
00:19at Dubai Media City on April 12th. The venue has been expanded to accommodate 14,000 fans,
00:24but we predict the tickets, which went on sale today, will move very quickly.
00:28The star of Another Generation also made a date with Dubai this week. Greek star Yanni,
00:32who sold out a concert here last year, is giving his fans more, with two dates booked
00:36on April 4th and 5th. And there's a music dilemma in the UAE tonight. Will he be in
00:40Abu Dhabi to see Kanye West, or Dubai for rock legend Slash? It's dividing the nation.
00:45There's another rock legend in the city too, albeit for a different kind of performance.
00:49Alice Cooper hit the golf course, playing in the Amiga Dubai Desert Classic Challenge
00:53match. Perhaps he should stick to music though, he came last.
00:57In international news, Chris Brown is back doing what he does best, getting into fights.
01:01This time with fellow rapper Frank Ocean, apparently over a parking spot in an LA music
01:06studio. Ocean has told police he wants to prosecute, which could land Brown in serious
01:10trouble. He's still on promotion for assaulting Rihanna, who this week revealed their on-off
01:14relationship is 100% on. In an interview with The Rolling Stone, she came clean about reuniting
01:20with a man who beat the living daylights out of her four years ago. She said dating Brown
01:24makes her happy, and if it's a mistake, it's my mistake.
01:28One couple who are not reuniting, yet, is Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Bieber had
01:33a new album out this week, and it features a track about their breakup. The song, Nothing
01:37Like Us, is a raw and emotion-filled ballad over a piano melody, with lyrics such as,
01:42Girl, why would you push me away? But that is the past, we didn't last now.
01:47Lindsay Lohan has plenty of dates, court dates that is. She returned to an LA court on Wednesday
01:52to be told she's going on trial in March for a car crash last year. She's pleaded not
01:57guilty to lying to police, reckless driving and obstructing officers.
02:02We're knee-deep in awards season, and it's looking like Ben Affleck's year. His Iranian
02:06hostage drama Argo swept two awards in two days, taking top prizes at the Screen Actors
02:11Guild and Producers Guild Awards, which are always good indicators of Oscar success. He's
02:15looking likely to take the Directors Guild Awards next week, but unfortunately isn't
02:19nominated as a director at the Oscars. Too bad, Ben.
02:22Celebrity mum's got plenty of limelight this week too, with Whitney Houston's mum Sissy
02:26releasing a tell-all book about the singer's life and tragic death one year ago. And Kim
02:31Kardashian's manager, we mean mother, Kris Jenner, getting her own talk show. We hope
02:35that means she lets someone else talk for once.
02:38Now over to Manju for this week's Bollywood News.
02:41It's been an eventful week for superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The good news is that as soon as
02:46he wraps up Chennai Express with Deepika Padukone, Khan will head to Dubai. His next film, Happy
02:51New Year, directed by his best friend Farah Khan, is largely set in the Gulf and the busy
02:55actor has booked 25 days in Dubai. If you thought Priyanka Chopra's lyrics for her debut
03:00single In My City were cheesy, wait till you see the official video. No offence to PC,
03:05we think she's gorgeous and all, but it looks like that's not going to be enough for a successful
03:09international pop career. Even Will.I.Am, who makes an appearance in the video and the
03:13single, does not rescue it from the depths of mediocrity. South Indian hero Kamal Hassan
03:18has agreed to modify his ambitious spy thriller Vishwaroopam after talks with Muslim leaders
03:23who felt that the film was offensive to their community. Earlier, an emotional Hassan said
03:27he was contemplating leaving his native state Tamil Nadu if the trouble over releasing Vishwaroopam
03:32continued. In the UAE, the film is still under review.
03:36If you're looking for what to do this weekend, then the film with most nominations in this
03:40year's Oscars finally arrives in UAE cinemas for you to deliver your verdict. Lincoln has
03:4612 nominations including Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis and Best Director for Steven Spielberg.
03:51Also showing is gruesome fairy tale Hansel and Gretel with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Otterton
03:56as butt-kicking witch hunters and Hindi-Tamil film drama David from acclaimed director Bijoy
04:01Nambiar. And that's your weekly wrap.
