A woman says a Pilates class left her hospitalised - after she passed out four times.
Lola Fernandez, 24, felt "destroyed" after completing a 55 minute HIT Pilates class in January 2025.
She rushed to the toilet and was constantly throwing up and asked her fellow classmates to call 911.
Paramedics arrived and Lola passed out four times before they got her into the ambulance - due to dehydration.
Lola spent six hours in hospital - passing out a further two times - before she could head home.
Lola, a content creator and data analyst, from Los Angeles, California said: "Once I finished the class I was completely destroyed.

00:00y'all I'm okay no but seriously though that was literally like the worst
00:05experience of my life story time so there were a lot of different factors
00:10that went into me feeling like shit so I'm gonna start off at the very beginning
00:15so the day before which was Monday night I had some food that I definitely
00:20should have not had because I don't know if like some people can relate to me but
00:24I have a very high sensitivity to like high fat foods so like pizza fried
00:28chicken like buttery steaks or like buttered seafood like anything that's
00:32just really rich and like buttery or oily or just like high fats and stuff
00:37like that my stomach does not do well with like any of those so really only
00:40like healthy stuff is what I can take and so I decided to have a couple pieces
00:46of fried chicken which was a mistake and so Tuesday morning I woke up and I
00:51threw everything up I was just like like I literally could not digest it and then
00:55I decided I'm like okay because it's happened to me before where I ate
00:59something that I shouldn't have and then thrown up and I'm like fine like I go
01:02about my day and I'm not like nauseous the rest of the day it was just like I
01:04needed to get that out of my system so I went ahead and went to the gym but I
01:09didn't eat and I probably didn't drink enough water after I threw up which
01:13again is a little bit on me I probably should have stayed home but again
01:17because I'm like feeling fine afterwards I didn't think twice about not going to
01:22the gym and also I've done fasted workouts in the past and have never ever
01:26had an episode like this so I get to my Pilates class keep in mind this is what
01:30I've been seeing so many comments this is not a hot Pilates class or solid core
01:34or anything like that this was like a regular mat Pilates class but what I
01:38will say though is that this was LA Fitness Pilates class so I have a LA
01:42Fitness gym membership and I'm a swimmer so I actually use like the lap pools um
01:46it's like a heated indoor pool salt water pool it's fantastic but I'm
01:50swimmer so I usually do laps in the pool and I saw that they have mat Pilates
01:53classes like Tuesdays and Thursdays and Wednesdays and stuff like that so I was
01:57like you know what I'm gonna try to go and do Pilates class and if you know
02:00anything about like real Pilates like whether you're instructor or you've just
02:03been to like an actual reformer Pilates class that specifically teaches like the
02:08Joseph Pilates methods um you already know like LA Fitness Pilates is probably
02:14more of like a HIIT workout mixed with like Pilates principles so it's not
02:17truly truly Pilates um it's definitely a little bit more intense because again
02:20I've tried normal classes I've tried Lagree I've tried everything you can
02:26think of and I know the differences so this was not definitely not like your
02:29typical mat Pilates class let's say like move with Nicole which I watch her on
02:33YouTube sometimes this was definitely more like a HIIT workout based Pilates
02:37after I did the whole entire workout class which was 55 minutes and literally
02:41I was like had barf in my mouth I was I was trying not to just barf everywhere
02:45because I was like dude this is gonna be a terrible fucking scene so ran down
02:49to the bathroom barfed everything up I literally stacked like the liners that
02:56you put on top of the toilet before you sit down like I literally stacked like
02:5912 or 15 of them on top of each other and I just sat down with my gym clothes
03:02and everything and I was over the toilet paper stall like bitch I was fucking
03:08dying okay so 15-20 minutes went by I still did not feel better and then I
03:12just kept having to throw up and that's when I started getting like what the
03:16doctors called Vegas syncope syndrome which basically because I was so
03:21nauseous like I am very sensitive and like soft whatever you want to call me
03:25um so I just literally could not take the nausea anymore I just kept passing
03:29out I had the girls that were in the bathroom I was like please somebody
03:33call 9-1-1 and they were so nice like shout out to like all the staff at LA
03:38fitness and the girls that were also in the locker room like they literally
03:41helped me from the bathroom stalls to the gym lockers and like sat me down and
03:45gave me water and this and that and then the paramedics came I passed out like
03:50four times before they put me into the ambulance and then twice at the hospital
03:53where they gave me fluids they gave me zofran and like some other stuff and I
03:57was feeling better but to say the least yeah so it was definitely like me not
04:03eating before going to class and not being hydrated I also threw up in the
04:07morning because of that food sensitivity and then that Pilates class it was like
04:10the cherry on top of the cake and now I know how sensitive I am so if you are a
04:15person who is just like me and gets sick often or has like heat sensitivities
04:20please do not do not do not do not go to heated Pilates or just do any kind of
04:25like hit based workout I highly recommend you start swimming though
04:28because that's what I do and I try to do at least a mile or more which is like 60
04:33or 70 laps and that's like the perfect workout for me and it's easy on your
04:39joints it's easy on like your whole body but it's a full body workout as
04:42well so if you've never thought about getting into swimming this might be your
04:45sign to get into doing that
