12:26Well Ethan, you are a natural jumper, no question.
12:29Fantastic technique, great strength, explosive takeoffs, good landing positions.
12:34What do you find challenging though about competition?
12:38You're learning of course every time that you go out,
12:41but what is more difficult about doing that in competition?
12:44This is for younger skaters watching us right now.
12:47Maybe you can help them.
12:48What is it that you find different about competition than in practice?
12:53Practice, in practice you can take it easy.
12:59You have multiple tries, however in competitions you just have this one try.
13:05You have to do it one time, and you have to do it the best you can.
13:09That's the main difference, but also another factor is just staying focused.
13:17In practice you have the support of everybody with you,
13:22your coaches, your family, fellow skaters,
13:27but in competitions you're all by yourself.
13:31You have to stay strong, you have to keep focused for yourself.
13:37That is a great message.
13:39Sorry, go ahead Eva.
13:41I actually want to add that Ethan was pretty strong last year,
13:46but unfortunately couldn't focus very well,
13:50so he didn't even make it last year to nationals.
13:53That's why this is even more special for me,
13:57how he handled this year's competitions.
14:00He definitely worked on it, and he made it,
14:05and I'm very, very proud of him,
14:08how he has really improved and learned to focus,
14:13because mostly it was his focus because he practiced quite well,
14:16but sometimes in competition he couldn't just perform the same way.
14:21So that was really very special for me.
14:24I'm very, very proud of him.
14:26Well, very, very good skater,
14:28and lessons learned now on how to cope with competitive situations.
14:32The champion in the Novice Men's 155.54,
14:36new Canadian record, Ethan Liu from Ontario.
14:39Thank you very much for that wonderful skate.
14:41Congratulations, and the best of luck as you move forward in your career.
14:44Thank you very much.
14:47Have a nice day.
14:49Thank you, you too.
16:12Welcome back to Edmonton,
16:14and now the final champions here at the Skate Canada Trophy,
16:20Kayla and Logan Bowman with an 81.92
16:23as they take the Pre-Novice Dance event.
16:25You guys are very, very special.
16:28I have to ask you, you have beautiful extensions,
16:30wonderful flexibility.
16:32Do you all take ballet?
16:35Yes.
16:36Yeah, we do.
16:37How often?
16:39How often?
16:40Kayla, how many times a week do you take ballet?
16:45Twice.
16:47How long have you skated together?
16:51Three years.
16:53Okay.
16:54Were you doing single skating before that?
16:57Yeah.
16:58Okay.
16:59And Logan, tell me a little bit about the change
17:01from single skating into ice dancing.
17:03What is it you love most about ice dancing?
17:08I like learning new things in ice dance.
17:11It's fun, especially lifts,
17:14because she's very flexible so we can do lots of things.
17:18It's amazing.
17:19You've got such a straight, strong back,
17:21wonderful posture.
17:23Kayla, what is it that you most like about
17:25or admire as an athlete in your brother as a partner?
17:31Well, it's, my opinion, it's easier to work with
17:35because, like, you can just kind of, like,
17:39you know, like, who you're skating with more
17:43than you would with, like, someone else
17:46that's not in your family.
17:48So then you just kind of know how they work
17:51and stuff like that.
17:52That's for sure.
17:53And Logan, what about to your sister Kayla?
17:55What do you most admire about her as a partner?
17:59She's very funny.
18:01I like skating with her.
18:02She makes skating very fun.
18:05Well, that's good.
18:07That's fantastic.
18:08Okay, well, listen, you guys are a fabulous team.
18:11Congratulations.
18:12I hope you enjoy this win,
18:14and we wish you the very, very best of luck
18:17as you move forward in your career.

19:11That'll take place a little bit later this month.
19:14Junior Worlds in Debreken, Hungary,

19:18Of course, you won't want to miss that.
19:20That is the big stage, that's for sure.
19:22Junior and Senior Synchro Teams.
19:24The Junior Synchro Team going for the second world title
19:26in a row this season.
19:28And the Prem, the three-time world champions,
19:30going for an unprecedented four-time world champions.

19:44You don't see the background to all of this, folks,
