00:00Interoperability between the Philippines and its various allies

00:05was further strengthened by the 6th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity.

00:10Patrick De Jesus of PTV with the country's latest news.

00:16Various exercises were held this Wednesday

00:20by Philippine ships, America, Japan, and Australia in the West Philippine Sea,

00:26particularly in the eastern part of Bajo de Masinloc.

00:29This is the 6th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity

00:34between the countries.

00:36The Philippine Navy used its multi-role guided missile frigate

00:40BRPO Serizal

00:42and the search and rescue assets of the Philippine Air Force.

00:45HMAS Hobart, JS Akizuki in Japan, and USS Benfold of America

00:51also launched the P-8A Poseidon aircraft of Australia and the United States.

00:58According to the AFP,

00:59the interoperability of the countries was strengthened here.

01:04And the MMCA was in accordance with international law

01:08and was allowed to sail safely.

01:10There were warships of the PLA Navy of China that were monitored.

01:14But none of these did anything against the MMCA,

01:18which was successful.

01:19A joint aerial exercise was held recently

01:22by the Philippines and America in the West Philippine Sea,

01:26where the two B-1 bomber aircraft of the US Pacific Air Force also sailed.

01:31An expert said,

01:33this will only show the continued support of the Philippine security partners,

01:39which is also a message to China.

01:41That's basically a signal from them

01:43that we should continue resisting Chinese coercive actions.

01:48The goal of China, while it's applying what we call gray zone tactics against the Philippines,

01:55is to weaken our resolve.

01:58But this military exercise,

02:00exercises in the multilateral and the bilateral exercises

02:05are an indication that you cannot basically win the Philippines

02:10away from the United States and its security partners.

02:13Prior to this,

02:14the US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth,

02:18had an introductory call with Defense Secretary Gebo Teodoro

02:21and discussed defense cooperation

02:23as part of the alliance of the United States and the Philippines,

02:27as well as the continued deterrence in the South China Sea.

02:30Hegseth and Teodoro also discussed

02:33strengthening the military strength of the Philippines

02:36and the continued commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty

02:39which is important in maintaining the safe and free Indo-Pacific.
