00:00Morning. There's a band of rain crossing the country today so we'll all see a
00:04little bit at some point. Certainly a soggy start for much of southern
00:08Scotland. Metal face yellow warning in place across Dumfries and Galloway. That
00:12rain clearing away though from northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some
00:15showers will follow in behind here turning wet across Wales. A pretty soggy
00:19morning for West Wales. That rain moving into Devon and Cornwall and across
00:23northwest England too. Much of eastern England starting a bit murky but
00:27probably brightening up a little through the day. Eventually that rain
00:30will trickle into the Midlands and more central parts of southern England but as
00:34you can see it's kind of weakening. It gets narrower as it does so. It should
00:38clear away from Wales and much of southern Scotland. So brighter skies
00:41here to end the day but still plenty of showers packing in on a fairly brisk
00:45breeze and it's really quite windy around this line of rain as well. So
00:49that's going to make it feel cool even though temperatures will generally be
00:52above average and for many we'll see highs into double digits 10 or 11 maybe
00:5812 where we see a little bit of brightness. That rain will spread into
01:02eastern England but continuing to fizzle out so just a little damp and drizzly
01:05this evening for East Anglia and the southeast. But some lively showers will
01:09continue to track into western Scotland. Some hail and thunder possibly mixed in
01:14with those and a few of those lively showers getting into the north of
01:17Northern Ireland maybe some into northwest England through the night. For
01:20a good chunk of the country though it will be a dry night with some clearer
01:23spells and it will be perhaps a little colder than the yet night just gone. Most
01:28towns and cities staying a few degrees above freezing but certainly in the
01:31countryside there will be some pockets of frost to start tomorrow morning. But
01:36for many of us we'll start off with a bit of sunshine too and except for quite
01:39a few it'll stay that way throughout the day. Yes a few showers drifting into
01:43northwest England. The odd one for Wales and southwest England and certainly
01:46showers will come and go through the day across western Scotland but for
01:50many elsewhere dry and bright certainly not expecting many showers for eastern
01:54Scotland. Sunny spells here much of eastern England too so a dry and a bright
01:58day for a good chunk. Not as windy although still enough of a breeze to
02:02feed those showers through into the north coast of Northern Ireland and
02:06western Scotland. A colder day. Temperatures though still around average
02:108, 9 maybe 10 Celsius across the southwest but certainly a fresher feel
02:15because that cold front is moving through introducing slightly cooler air.
02:20But it's going to get colder still if we rewind to Tuesday evening to this
02:25evening there's that cold front pushing its way away. Behind that high pressures
02:29moving in but the winds are coming in from the west. But watch what happens
02:34through the rest of the week. The high really builds in across the UK bringing
02:38a lot of dry and fine weather for Wednesday and Thursday and then the high
02:42starts to drift away. Meander up towards Scandinavia and when we have high
02:47pressure over Scandinavia with the winds going clockwise around it that
02:51means they'll start coming in from the east. So a complete switch around in wind
02:55direction between today and Friday and Saturday and easterly winds at this time
03:00of year well they are going to bring a chill. So temperatures are going to be
03:04dropping off quite a bit as we head towards the end of this week with
03:07widespread frosts returning noticeably colder by day as well. More on that you
03:12can watch our full week ahead video that Aidan recorded yesterday that's
03:16available on our YouTube channel.
