00:55Man, we're going to break it down, of course, and talk about your Boston Celtics.

01:01These guys are coming off of Jason Tatum going on a tear, following up that game winner Friday

01:06But first things first, Max, man, where were you when you found out that Luka Doncic was

01:11heading to LA?

01:12He's going to be wearing Lakers, Lakers, purple and gold.

01:17Can you believe it?

01:18Well, just like I couldn't believe that Snoop Dogg performed for Donald Trump.

01:23I can't believe that either, though.

01:25So we got to talk about that, too.

01:27We missed that one a lot, though, because between him and Nelly, him and Nelly.

01:34Soldier boy, Rick Ross, I'm like, damn.

01:37The culture is not happy with those two, but yes, we'll say that for life.

01:43Well, let's get back to the trade.

01:45I actually was in the bed about to go to sleep.

01:49I got a text from a friend of mine, and he said, what do you think about the big trade?

01:53He said, wow, what a trade.

01:56And he didn't say anything else.

01:57And I immediately went to SportsCenter, turned it on, and then here it comes, Luka and Anthony

02:06Davis.

02:07I was like, whoa.

02:08You had to drop so many wows.

02:11I mean, it was just so unbelievable when you think about those two guys getting traded

02:16for each other.

02:17And the more I hear about it, to me, Nico Harris was what, the general manager?

02:25That's right.

02:26Nico Harrison.

02:27Of Dallas?

02:28If you didn't know who he was, you surely know who he is now.

02:32Ooh-wee.

02:33He is.

02:34If he didn't move Jimmy Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, out the hot seat in Dallas and

02:41put himself directly in fire, it just goes without speaking.

02:46Those Mascans are upset, Max.

02:48They are furious.

02:49Yeah.

02:52But you know, I think, though, too, everybody talks about giving up on the young superstar.

03:10Does that mean that they'll be asking somebody, saying something about you, and then I go

03:15to your mama and I'll say, what is it about Joe Swayze?

03:23Well, that's the same thing with the Mavericks.

03:25The Mavericks have the playbook on him.

03:26They have his health records.

03:28They know how he's worked or not worked.

03:31They wanted him to be in shape.

03:33Michael Finley supposedly takes a beer out of his hand and something, and then I was

03:40trying to figure, why would somebody take a beer out of your hand?

03:45Why would you do that?

03:46I mean, if guys were celebrating, I mean, when the Celtics were celebrating, they were

03:51drinking alcohol.

03:52I mean, they were drinking tequila.

03:56So I don't quite know, but maybe it's a history.

04:01Brian Scalabrine, your guy Brian Scalabrine says, Luka, you got to be an alcoholic.

04:07You got to be doing this.

04:08I don't know.

04:10But to give up on a young star like that, I don't think we've ever seen that in the

04:17NBA.

04:18I mean, stars traded for another star.

04:21And Amden Davis isn't in his prime, but he is still, he ain't too, he's a long ways from

04:30the grave.

04:31And to get that trade, to me, it helps Dallas out.

04:36It helps Dallas out.

04:37You know, what he said is, I don't want to play center.

04:42Why would that be?

04:43Because the Jokers kicked his ass every time he's seen it.

04:48And so he has to, so, so he's like the perimeter, Max.

04:51That's true.

04:52Yeah.

04:53So he doesn't want to play center.

04:54Why?

04:55That maybe that's it.

04:56But gosh, I mean, you're, you're looking at a lot of variables, a lot of it.

05:04Take it back.

05:05Let's say, take this team back seven years ago and you had those three players on your

05:10team.

05:11Amden Thompson, Davis and Kyrie Irving.

05:16Oh, that's a squad.

05:17I mean, if we finally got Davis and Kyrie together, remember that was the plan for the

05:21Celtics once upon a time, 2016, I thought it was 10 years ago though, Max, a lot of

05:26things have happened since then.

05:28Yes.

05:29I mean, I mean those, so that's why to me, but, but for me, it actually is a good trade

05:35in the fact that what Luca gave you offensively, he might give it away defensively on the other

05:41side.

05:42Yeah.

05:43What Anthony Davis gives you offensively, he's only going to increase his value because

05:48defensively, he's going to take away something from the opposition.

05:53So I like the trade for Dallas.

05:56I know people are pissed, but I think this is a great trade for Dallas.

06:01I'm not in the Laker trade.

06:05Come on, Max.

06:06Let's go.

06:07Take, take off those green glasses, man.

06:08Come on.

06:09No, no, no.

06:10I'm not.

06:11This is a no brainer, Max.

06:12You don't think so?

06:13Especially if Dallas calls you, you're not making this trade.

06:17I understand, but I'm still looking at right now, this, this year, even looking next year,

06:24say LeBron James plays one more year.

06:28How did those two players coincide?

06:32That's what I'm talking about.

06:33I'm not hating on the way, but how did LeBron James is ball dominant?

06:37How many times we've seen him just Luca and those two players need the ball to be affected.

06:51How many times you've seen Luca cut to the basket without the basketball?

06:55How many times you've seen that moving away?

06:58LeBron can do a little bit better, but Luca doesn't move well without the basketball.

07:02So you're, he's ball dominant.

07:06LeBron is ball dominant.

07:08How do you coincide with those two players?

07:10Yeah.

07:11I mean, plus you lose a lot of the defensive end about Davis.

07:13I mean, if you were to say what they want about who he used to be, but he's still an

07:16impactful player.

07:17He's still an all-star.

07:18If you ask me, look, my, my thing is, look, I'm not saying this team is significantly

07:21close to winning a championship because of this trade and talk about the Lakers, right?

07:25But I just think when you have an opportunity like this, you already have LeBron in the

07:28fourth quarter of his career, let's say another two years, maybe three, whatever the case

07:32may be.

07:33How do you get a player to line up for the next generation?

07:36Like how do you get to the fourth quarter of his career?

07:40These are the last five minutes, but you're like the beginning of the fourth quarter.

07:46I mean, I mean, and I still admire what he's, what he's doing as a player, but my God, man,

07:59come on.

08:00If you go out and say, and now you lost your best defensive player, you already had, you

08:05already hurting right now, defensively, who are you going with over there as your best

08:09offender right now?

08:10Who are you looking at as the guy who's going to defend the basketball?

08:15And on top of that, he was a rebounder.

08:17So the Lakers to me, I don't, I don't, and, and Luca, I'm a big fan, but you remember

08:27last year in the playoffs when the playoffs began, what was everybody saying about Luca?

08:36It was all about Luca.

08:37When Dallas was going to play Boston, it was all about Luca.

08:41Luca is the best player right now in the series.

08:44No, no, no, wrong.

08:48You got exposed.

08:49Was he number, was he number three?

08:51Was he number two?

08:52Was he three?

08:53Maybe four, three or four, if we're being honest, three or four guys.

08:58Yeah.

08:59He just didn't perform.

09:00He didn't perform well.

09:01And somebody told me, well, he carried the team and that, that bullshit.

09:05Bullshit.

09:06I mean, he didn't, he did not.

09:11That's what it was.

09:12Max.

09:13I mean, everyone's on top of the Western conference finals and, and the way, you know, he, he,

09:16he went after Minnesota in a big way to try to switch him up.

09:20He got, he got Rudy Gobert on the switch, the defensive player at the end.

09:24We're not talking about offense, we're talking about what he does defensively.

09:29He was exposed last year as not being a defender, Tatum and Brown and anybody out there took

09:38turns with Luca.

09:41He can score, but he couldn't score to the fact of what was coming at him.

09:45So I'm, I don't know.

09:48They did take turns, but even Derek White, man, he was dancing for the Lakers.

09:54I can't wait to go see the James Worthy, his podcast, where he's going to, how they're

09:58going to spend this.

09:59This ought to be really good.

10:04I like to see his reaction to this, but no, I was going to say also from the, from the

10:07flip side, right.

10:08I mean, you, you, you, you're bigger now, you know, they've proven that they can win

10:15against a team like the Oklahoma city thunder who was sitting on top of the Western conference

10:19all season long.

10:20They proved that they can win without Luca.

10:21And now you made things even harder for them because essentially the size difference and

10:26especially, you know, protecting the paint, they, they completely stopped the thunder

10:30in the fourth quarter in ways that I haven't really seen.

10:32I mean, outside of what happened against the Golden State Warriors recently, but this was

10:35on a different level with lively, with Gafford, you know, you got the shooters.

10:39I mean, PJ Washington, I don't know what it is, but whenever he plays the thunder, he,

10:43he goes off and like, that's the thing.

10:44Yeah.

10:45I mean, defensively you put yourself in another, in another, a notch above of where you were

10:49before in the fourth quarter, when you need a guy to give you buckets, we need a guy to

10:53take over.

10:54I mean, is Kyrie going to be able to do that in the playoffs?

10:57Can clay Thompson turn back the clock?

10:59He hasn't shown any signs of that.

11:00Yeah.

11:02Yeah.

11:03And, and you know what?

11:04After the Davis can carry the office of love when he wants to, he has the ability to do

11:09that.

11:10Somebody asked me, do you think that they're better that a Dallas right now is better than

11:14they were last year?

11:15I said, yeah, I do.

11:18I think they're much better right now.

11:20Defensively.

11:21If Anthony Davis is playing, he can close down that basket area and he can address certain

11:30issues, rebounding the ball, blocking shots, running the floor like that.

11:37He's just a lot of issues that, you know, that those other guys couldn't do because

11:42Gafford and when those guys were finishers around the rim, they get tap ins and get dish

11:49off or stuff like that, but they don't, they can't, they could not create their own shots.

11:55Anthony Davis can create his, and the Davis essentially can take it from baseline to baseline

12:00or score with the basketball or go from baseline to the three point line and knock down shots.

12:06So for me, yeah, I love it for the Lakers.

12:11Love it.

12:12I don't know what that means on this podcast because I cannot wait to, you know, tune in

12:18on James word is, you know, what they had to say out there.

12:22I know good and well, you know what they're doing right now?

12:25Know what they're doing?

12:28Drinking the damn Kool-Aid.

12:29That's what they're doing.

12:30They think about the future, I guess in some regard, but I don't know about the present,

12:35man.

12:36I got to figure this thing out.

15:36unless you got a trade option like Bradley Beal, you can be moved.

15:41We just saw the Aaron Fox who said, hey, I don't want to play anymore.

15:45I want to go to San Antonio where the end up, San Antonio, Jimmy Butler right now saying,

15:52you know, only want to play right now in Phoenix.

15:56I will not even Golden State wants me.

15:58I will not sign an extension that do whatever they want you at right now.

16:05You should be like easy.

16:08He told me he said, look, don't even think about sending me to the Golden State Warriors.

16:11I'm good.

16:12I ain't signing after this year.

16:14I mean, I think you got to look at you also got to look at your basketball life.

16:21And I know you have confidence in who you are, Jimmy Butler.

16:45small box unless he's going to mess the floor up, Jimmy Butler's painting himself into that

19:35Nobody's going to get over this because it was a young star and you felt like you were

19:40growing with him. If you were a Dallas Maverick fan, he comes

19:44to you at 18 years old or whatever, and you see him flourishing to one of the best

19:49players in the league. And all of a sudden you say he's gone.

19:54I mean, I don't even know who

19:58if I'm Niko Harris, I got I got some I know I got some damn security around me

20:03someplace because you said and I believe it.

20:06There's some people out here.

20:11It's crazy, man.

20:13And there's reports that he was emotional about it, they didn't know his father's upset

20:17about it. We got it.

20:18What was it? Chandler Parsons, I think, was the one that said that he was he's he heard

20:23that he was emotional about it, but was very distraught.

20:26You know, it's interesting, too, from Anthony Davis perspective.

20:28Remember Anthony Davis, his dad saying that stuff about what the Southerners did to Isaiah

20:33Thomas and how like, man, how can how can you be so cold and you try to got that?

20:37What how he feels about this, given that Anthony Davis was able to help these guys win a

20:41championship in twenty twenty and now he goes out to Dallas just like, well, how about

20:44that Chandler Parsons?

20:46You're saying him. That's the same one that said that Luca was better right now than

20:52Larry Bird was two or three times better than Larry Bird.

20:55So I'm not sure how we're going to take what he's saying.

21:37Danny said, I would have pulled the trigger.

21:41That was the day I knew I was like, this is going to trade Garnett and Pierce one day.

21:44Like the moment he said that, it was like, hey, guys, get ready, because when these guys

21:47are done or when I when I decided they're done, don't be shocked when I when I trade

21:52them and they're not entirely look.

21:56Gave this gave the organization the gift they kept giving.

22:01This is what you can say.

22:02You got to tell them why you get taken, because then he ain't straight.

22:17You know, we know people calling that Max, they call that one of the worst trades that

22:20could have ever been done for the Nets.

22:22Like the Nets gave away all those picks without really thinking about what those could

22:26have translated to or could it could turn into trying to make a quick fix and put a

22:30super team on the fly like that, the way they did.

22:32So, you know, you're you're right.

22:34I mean, that's what what what they're saying.

22:40Just this just is unbelievable.

22:43I saw this man, what a what a what a win, what a win in Philly, what was it like down

22:47there? And those six or seven must have been awfully quiet by the end of the fourth

22:51quarter. They were twenty six point deficit.

22:54Something overcame one eighteen one ten Jason Tatum going off in the second half and

23:00Joe Mozilla telling these guys at halftime, look, if you guys don't want to play, man, I

23:02can get the end of the bench crew.

23:03We can just call it a night.

23:05You know, we pack the plane up.

23:06You know, we can just go on to the next city if you guys don't want to play.

23:10Tatum said that that was the spark going into that second half.

23:14But of course, they couldn't have done it without him.

23:16And what do you what do you say about that?

23:17Yeah, I mean, Joe was there with he he he they looked like they were dead to rights.

23:24Derek White couldn't hit any shots.

23:26And then finally, he relaxed, relaxed and then sort of just taking the shots.

23:32It was easy. He's been rushing those shots.

23:36He knocked down two or three.

23:38Then it was brown.

23:39Then it was Tatum.

23:40Then they just kind of went back and forth.

23:42Presingis was big, but they shouldn't have been in that position in the first place to

23:48get down by twenty six points to a team that was led essentially by Tyrese Maxey and the

23:55van. Yeah, we're selling one man, you know, all those other guys he didn't have.

24:01So, yeah, that was that that that's pretty, pretty wicked when you think about it.

24:07I love seeing Tatum take his time and just burying the Pelicans is hard on the Friday

24:13night. He guarded it.
