00:00Buses remain the dominant mode of transport in Birmingham with National Express West Midlands
00:06running most services across the region. Data from the company highlights the busiest routes
00:11with the number 74 from Birmingham to Dudley topping the list, followed by the 11C out
00:16of Circle and the 50 to Druid's Heath. Trams provide an alternative for those travelling
00:22between Wolverhampton and Edgbaston, while train services connect key hubs including
00:26New Street and Snow Hill. We asked people in Birmingham which mode of transport they
00:31prefer and what they think about the current state of public transport in the city.
00:36I use the public transport because I've got a bus pass, but you can't use that till half
00:41past nine. If you don't use it at half past nine, you've got to pay a pound. And my idea
00:46is it doesn't matter how old you are, if the bus is empty, let people use the passes.
00:51So I live in Bourneville, so I use the train a lot to get into the city. I don't tend to
00:56use the buses or the tram. Public transport in Birmingham can be a bit patchy. Think
01:02about the train network, it is patchy. And one of the reasons I decided to move to Bourneville
01:06was because it had a train line, an easy train line into the city.
01:11No, I prefer to use the train. I don't like using the bus. I don't like using the tram.
01:16But the trains aren't very good in Birmingham either. I mean, yeah, that's all I've got
01:23to say really. They're a bit scotty.
01:28Well because I get free transport and make full use of it, because I used to, obviously
01:34I used to drive a lot before I was a truck driver a long time ago, so I know my way around
01:38on wheels. So I kind of miss the freedom of jumping in a car, but the cost of it is a
01:44lot easier when I don't need it. So I sold it at the best time.
01:48I like to use Birmingham New Street whenever I come for uni, pleasure or anything like
01:55that. And they always are very on time.
