00:00The Bureau of Fire Protection has declared that the grass fire that hit Karasi, Ilocos Norte is under control.
00:06This is what Emma Joyce Guillermo reported.
00:11It is estimated that 287 hectares of land, including 50 hectares of land in the National Greening Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
00:22are affected by the grass fire in Karasi, Ilocos Norte.
00:26The Bureau of Fire Protection has declared that the grass fire is under control as of 2 p.m. on Friday, January 31.
00:34According to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council,
00:38even if the fire is under control, the heli-bucket operations will continue to target the affected areas and avoid a possible re-ignition of the fire.
00:48Until now, the situation is still being investigated.
00:51In an interview, the Office of Civil Defense Region 1 Director Lorenz Mina assured that they will monitor the affected areas in the coming days to ensure that the fire will not re-ignite.
01:03We hope that the fire will not re-ignite and we hope that it will not re-ignite.
01:08Our air assets coming from the Philippine Air Force, two of them, one Black Hawk and one Sokol,
01:16they used the so-called bambi-bucket to transfer water to the nearby lake or water source that they can get.

01:44The grass fire started on Thursday, January 30 until 2.30 p.m. in the mountainous areas of Barangay Barabakeso and Verbira.
01:53According to RDRRMC-1, the emergency responders immediately carried out the operation,
01:59including the Municipal DRRM Office and Municipal Police Station of Karasi, BFP, DENR, and the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company,
02:09to put out the fire.
02:11In order to strengthen their operations, the Tactical Operations Group-1 was sent for aerial reconnaissance.
02:19The MDRRMC-Karasinang Incident Management Team, led by MDRRM Officer Engineer Mark Stanley Bulidlit,
02:28became the incident commander to oversee their on-ground operations.
