27 January - National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. A very wet and windy day ahead, particularly across
00:05the far southwest where already this morning we've seen some very heavy
00:08showers move through, also see some hail, some thunder and lightning mixed in there
00:12as well and that unsettled theme is set to continue as we head into this
00:17afternoon. Still plenty of heavy showers moving their way eastwards across the
00:21country, these merging together to bring longer spells of rain at times. Once
00:24again we could see some rather heavy showers with hail and thunder and
00:27lightning, particularly across the far southwest southern parts of Wales too
00:31where we may even see some localised flooding as we've already seen quite a
00:34lot of wet weather here over the weekend. Longer spells of rain at times across
00:37Northern Ireland, southern parts of Scotland and also to the north of
00:41Scotland too where once again it could be heavy, we may even see some snow across the
00:45hills in Scotland. Now temperatures are around average for the time of year but
00:49where that cloud and rain sticks around it's likely going to be feeling rather
00:52cool, particularly in those stronger winds. So Metalfoes warnings continue as
00:56we head into the overnight period, once again plenty of heavy showers pushing
01:00across the country, merging into longer spells of rain at times. Still rather
01:03heavy, could also see some hail and further thunder and lightning overnight
01:07too and still a snow element to the hills of Scotland as we head into the
01:12overnight period and generally temperatures staying above zero
01:16overnight with plenty of cloud and rain around but feeling rather chilly
01:19particularly in the winds and the lowest temperatures across Scotland, lows of
01:22around 3 Celsius in towns and cities. Now heading into tomorrow, more unsettled
01:28weather to come, a fairly similar day, still plenty of heavy showers, once again
01:32could hear the odd rumble of thunder mixed in within these showers, merging
01:35into longer spells of rain at times. Could see a rather wet day across parts
01:39of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire as we head into tomorrow and also later across
01:42Wales once again. There could be some clearer spells in between these showers
01:46particularly across northern areas but overall it's likely to be another
01:50unsettled day and once again temperatures around about average, perhaps
01:54feeling slightly milder in the far southwest but obviously that being
01:57offset by all the heavy showers moving through. Now for the rest of the week I'm
02:02afraid low pressure does tend to take hold, could see some heavy rain on
02:05Wednesday across the very far parts of the south, ridge of high pressure on
02:09Thursday so that's looking like the best day of the week before further rain
02:12moves in from the west on Friday. But if you want more updates on the week ahead
02:18for the weather you can catch Alex later with the week ahead weather. Bye for now.
