00:00The Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH, has approved a 30 million peso rehabilitation project

00:06for a crucial bridge connecting Biliran Province to the rest of Eastern Visayas.

00:11While the bridge remains open to light vehicles, authorities warn of a possible closure once construction begins.

00:22A lifeline for Biliran Province is it for a major upgrade as the Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH,

00:29allocates 30 million pesos for the rehabilitation of a vital bridge.

00:33DPWH's Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations, Nery Bueno, recently inspected the bridge

00:38and raised concerns about whether the allocated budget is sufficient.

00:41District Engineer Erwin Antonio clarified that the funds are intended for short-term rehabilitation rather than a long-term fix.

00:48According to the DPWH's Biliran District Engineering Office,

00:51the procurement process is already underway to ensure the immediate start of the project.

00:56The rehabilitation aims to address River Anter on the decades-old bridge,

01:00which serves as the main link between Biliran and the rest of Eastern Visayas.

01:27Local motorists are urged to stay updated as the rehabilitation progresses.

01:31The DPWH assures the public that the project will address structural issues and improve the safety of the bridge.

01:37Ferry operators, meanwhile, are coordinating with local officials to manage the increased demand for their services.

01:43For now, DPWH assures the public that they are expediting preparations to minimize disruptions.
