00:00Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the common budget on 1st February.

00:09Before that, the annual Halwa Ceremony will take place on 24th January.

00:15This programme will be held in the North Block at 5pm on 24th January in the presence of the Finance Minister.

00:22Before the lock-in process of the officials involved in the budget preparations begins, the traditional Halwa Ceremony is held.

00:31During the pandemic, the Halwa Ceremony was not held in 2021.

00:36This ceremony is a symbol of the beginning of the quarantine period for the officials who prepare the budget in the Finance Ministry.

00:44A few days before the budget is presented, a special ceremony is held in the Finance Ministry, which is called the Halwa Ceremony.

00:51During this time, Halwa is prepared in a big vessel in the kitchen of the Ministry.

00:56The Finance Minister herself serves this Halwa.

00:59After this, this Halwa is given to all the officials involved in the budget preparation.
