00:00Let me make one final plea, Mr. President.
00:04Millions have put their trust in you.
00:06In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.
00:15There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in democratic, republican and independent families.
00:25Some who fear for their lives.
00:28The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings,
00:32who labour in poultry farms and meatpacking plants,
00:36who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals,
00:40they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation.
00:48But the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.
00:52They pay taxes and are good neighbours.
00:56They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, Wadara and temples.
01:04I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities
01:08whose children fear that their parents will be taken away.
01:11And that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands
01:16to find compassion and welcome here.
01:18Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger.
