Newcastle City Council have announced they will be part of the Department of Educations national Wrap around Porgramme. The programme bring over 1.3 million pounds of department of education’s money, that will fund wraparound care, so childcare between 8am and 6pm for low income working families.

00:15for working families. The programme will be linked to every primary school in Newcastle
00:19and it's designed to provide high-quality, affordable care that wraps around the school
00:23day and gives parents greater flexibility and support. The programme builds on the success
00:28of extended early years entitlements, ensuring families who have benefited from child care
00:33support for children as young as 9 months old can continue to access these vital services
00:38as their children move into school. The funding will run until the end of March 2026.
00:43Councillor Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Newcastle City Council,
00:48said, By increasing access to affordable, high-quality child care, we are empowering
00:53parents to pursue work or training opportunities, while also helping eligible families access
00:58additional child care funding.
