00:00Indira Gandhi, known for her long struggle to be reunited with her daughter, has expressed

00:07her gratitude to Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat for stressing that her case is not

00:12about religion, but a mother's right to be with her child.

00:16Indira's daughter, Prasanna Diksa, was taken in 2009 by her former husband K. Patmanadan

00:22or Muhammad Ridwan Abdullah when she was just 11 months old.

00:27She said she has been separated from her daughter, who turned 17 this year, for way

00:31too long.

00:32A landmark federal court decision in 2018 ruled in Indira's favour declaring the unilateral

00:39conversion of her three children to Islam by Ridwan null and void.

00:43However, despite the court's decision, the police have yet to locate Prasanna.

00:48Yesterday, Tengku Maimun reportedly said that Indira's was one of the most impactful cases

00:54of her career, where conflicting orders issued by the civil and shahryar courts had complicated

00:59the process.

01:01She was quoted as saying that to her, there was no basis or justification in Islam to

01:06deprive a child of her mother.
