00:00Hello, very good day to you. There will be quite a bit of cloud around for many of us as we go through today and into the weekend, but it is looking largely dry.
00:09That's because high pressure to the southeast of us is still dominating our weather and will continue to do so for quite a while.
00:16The further away from this you are towards the northwest, greater chance of some blustery winds and some rain pushing through at times.
00:22As we head towards Sunday, there will be a front gradually making its way eastwards and that is going to bring some outbreaks of rain.
00:29But if we look at things in a bit more detail, starting off with the rest of this afternoon and yes, towards the northwest, a bit blustery and there is some rain across parts of Scotland,
00:38but elsewhere largely dry, but also largely cloudy. Some breaks in the cloud, perhaps towards parts of northeast England, northeast Scotland maybe,
00:47and also some parts of Northern Ireland, but many places having a lot of grey skies, largely dry, but a few spots of drizzly rain perhaps where the cloud is thick enough.
00:56Now interestingly, we still have quite a north-south split when it comes to our temperatures and it's the reverse of what we normally see.
01:02And as much as across northern parts, temperatures widely getting into double figures, in fact across the far north of Scotland where we have some clearer skies,
01:10bit of a fern effect, we could even get into the mid-teens. But further south, a much chillier feel to things, especially under that cloud,
01:17temperatures suppressed mid-single figures, thought some of us.
01:21As we go through Friday evening and overnight into Saturday, we see a lot of the rain towards the northwest clearing away, so turning largely dry,
01:28but we're sticking with the mostly cloudy skies. That being said, there will be some clear breaks in a few places, particularly again to the lee of higher grounds
01:36with the winds coming from the south to the north of any higher ground over parts of northern England, maybe to the north of Dartmoor as well, some clearer skies.
01:44But across the north of Scotland, here we're likely to have the most prolonged clear skies and as a result, a touch of frost is possible.
01:51But otherwise, despite the fact that there will be a lot of cloud, temperatures are actually going to drop,
01:56especially across many parts of England and Wales, most places getting close to, if not a little bit below freezing.
02:03So despite the largely cloudy skies, it could still be a chilly and frosty start for quite a few of us first thing tomorrow morning.
02:10Through the day then, a lot of cloud to start off with and still that cloud thick enough for a bit of drizzly rain.
02:16And in fact, across some parts of the southeast, perhaps with some low temperatures, that drizzly rain may turn to snow grains, the frozen equivalent of drizzle.
02:25But that shouldn't cause too many problems. And we're going to see perhaps a bit more sunshine on offer as we go through Saturday
02:31than we will have seen through today, especially across parts of Wales, northern England and again, northern parts of Cornwall and Devon as well.
02:38Also parts of Northern Ireland and northern Scotland having a good deal of sunshine as well, but other places sticking with the often grey and cloudy skies.
02:46Temperatures in the north won't be quite as high as today. Nonetheless, not too far away from average for the time of year, sticking with the cold theme.
02:54In fact, it looks even chillier across parts of the southeast, low single figures at best for some places here.
03:00Looking ahead to Sunday, and I already mentioned the fact that we do have a front coming in from the west.
03:05So across Northern Ireland, we are going to see some rain pushing its way through later overnight, reaching western parts of Scotland, England and Wales.
03:13Otherwise, it's looking mostly dry, still the cloud bringing the potential for some snow grains in places where it's thick enough,
03:20but also some sunny breaks, especially towards the north of higher ground.
03:23So northern Scotland, northeastern Scotland and northeast England having a decent amount of sunshine.
03:29After a cold, frosty, perhaps even foggy start for some of us, temperatures not rising a huge amount, perhaps in the south a little bit milder than on Saturday,
03:38but further north temperatures maybe even down a degree or so.
03:42Now for more information about what we can expect as we go through this weekend and beyond,
