Para ganahan ang mga kababayan nating magtapon sa tamang lugar, isang grupo ng grade 10 students ang bumuo ng trash can na kapag hinulugan ng plastic bottle, puwede nang maka-charge ng gadget!

00:00To encourage our fellow countrymen to throw in the right place, this group of grade 10 students
00:16created a trash can that can now be charged with a plastic bottle.
00:22Let's take a look at their prototype.
00:24Let's change the game!
00:27We are still preparing the trash can.
00:33If only last year, this is how many people endured the flood.
00:40What if the rain stops?
00:43Plastic wastes that pollute the waterways are already flooded.
00:48Hopefully, we can avoid throwing our trash in the trash can.
00:54What if a plastic bottle is thrown?
01:01There's an alternative way to charge the gadget.
01:06Just the right incentive to throw the trash in the right place.
01:12Introducing the TrashBot!
01:15Developed by grade 10 students, Alfred, Tristan, and John of Parang High School.
01:25From our first-hand personal experience,
01:27even if the trash can is provided for plastic bottles,
01:31it is not followed to promote proper waste management.
01:35The TrashBot is Arduino-based and they programmed it themselves.
01:40Ultrasonic sensors were installed to sense if someone threw a bottle.
01:45To make it sustainable, it is also powered by solar panels.
01:50To find out how the TrashBot works,
01:53this is their prototype.
01:55One plastic bottle will grant us 5 minutes of charging.
01:59We can charge up to 3 plastic bottles.
02:02Let's put the plastic bottle first to detect the ultrasonic sensors.
02:08TrashBot, count 1.
02:10That means we only put one bottle.
02:12Let's press 1.
02:16We have a timer.
02:17We can now charge the cell phone.
02:23Our gadget is now charging.
02:26The TrashBot became the finalist in the Regional Science and Technology Fair
02:30under the Science Innovation category.
02:32Our plan is to make our TrashBot better and stronger.
02:37Isn't that an innovative idea from our Grade 10 students
02:41to motivate the public to throw plastic bottles?
