00:36Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri is urging to make it a government agency or department.
00:42The Department of Economy, Planning and Development or DEPDEV.
00:46It has a strong role in cabinet meetings and yet they're not a department.
00:51Sometimes, government agencies don't pay attention to the findings and solutions of the NEDA.
01:00It's like it's just an authority. Some agencies feel it's only a recommendatory.
01:06But it's not just a simple change of its name.
01:09The responsibility of the new government will be increased when it comes to building the budget of the government.
01:15Sometimes, the education fund is lost, the fund for social services is lost,
01:20the fund for trade and industry and commerce programs is lost.
01:26So now, under this law, it's stated here that DEPDEV will consult with DBM, Department of Budget and Management,
01:37to make our national budget in tune for our economic development.
01:44The proposal has already passed the Senate and the House of Representatives.
01:47On Wednesday, there will be a bicameral conference.
