Foreign Secretary David Lammy has described the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal as "a glimmer of light in the darkness". 00:00After months of despair there is now hope. A glimmer of light in the darkness.
00:07A darkness that had seemed all-consuming since Hamas barbaric attack on the 7th
00:15of October 2023. I'm sure the whole house remembers the agony as we learned the
00:23full horror of what had unfolded. The grief as we mourn those that were lost.
00:29For the hostage families the agony has gone on and on. Members across the house
00:37will have met many of them including the relatives of British citizen Emily
00:42Damari and L.A. Shirabi and Odeed Leshef and Avotan Orr. And I know we have families
00:53with us here in the chamber today. I want to pay tribute once again to them for
01:00their bravery, humanity and commitment to bring the hostages home. And I invite the
01:07house to remember those murdered in captivity, including Nadef Popowel and Yossi Shirabi.
01:18May their memories be a blessing. And I say to all those now waiting anxiously to see
01:25what this deal means for them, we are with you in the days and weeks ahead. In Gaza today

02:21Among the victims was Hind Rajib, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl killed alongside members
02:29of her family and the paramedics who came to rescue her. Among the victims were many
02:35journalists dedicated to documenting the horrors around them. Among the victims were aid workers
02:42dedicated to serving others, including British citizens John Chapman, James Henderson and
02:50James Kirby. I invite the House to join me in remembering them all. We mourn every innocent
02:56victim in this appalling war.
