00:00There was no indication of pleas at this stage, but our clients vehemently deny the allegations.
00:05Imran Khan KC has been instructed as Senior Counsel for the Defence.
00:10As proceedings are live, it would be inappropriate to comment further, however, in relation to
00:15the IOPC and CPS investigation, we state the following.
00:19The IOPC released a statement following the Crown Prosecution Service's decision not to
00:24bring charges against the police officers, which noted an ongoing investigation into
00:29gross misconduct by these officers.
00:31The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, however, has lifted the suspension
00:36on the officers in question, essentially implying that they have been cleared of all wrongdoing.
00:41The Director of the IOPC, Catherine McNeice, told the family,
00:45Don't judge us on what you hear, judge us on what we do.
00:49The family feel betrayed by both the IOPC and CPS and their so-called investigation.
00:54The family will be seeking a victim's right to review of the CPS decision and robustly
00:59complaining about the role of the IOPC.
