00:00A new diplomatic protest was initiated by the Philippines against the illegal retention of Chinese ships in the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone.
00:10The PCG continues to monitor the demonstration ships that entered the country's AEC.
00:17This is what Patrick De Souza reported.
00:21Even the China Coast Guard demonstration ship is not safe from the high waves in the West Philippine Sea, which reaches 3 to 5 meters.
00:31This Monday, the demonstration ship 66NM from Pundakit, Zambales was last seen after it returned to the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone last Saturday.
00:44It was not released for a few days and the BRP Teresa Magbanwa stopped it, which is still near the Philippines.
00:51But it returned to the home port, the so-called largest ship of the Philippine Coast Guard, to compensate for its damaged auxiliary engine.
00:59Another PCG ship, the BRP Gabriela Silang, will be replaced, and it has a large 83 meters to continue to monitor.
01:08It's worth noting that despite of the discrepancy of the size of the monster ship, whether it's a 44 meter vessel or an 83 or 97 meter vessel,
01:19the Philippine Coast Guard remains to be committed in deploying our vessels and making sure that we can be able to effectively and vigilantly monitor the presence of the China Coast Guard vessel within our own Exclusive Economic Zone.
01:33Meanwhile, in the PCG's investigation, using satellite imagery and grid coordinates,
01:39it was observed that the presence of Chinese vessels today is up to the end of the 10-dash line,
01:45which they use to accommodate the entire South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea.
01:52When talking about the northern part of the West Philippine Sea,
01:56it is usually only around Scarborough Shoal that the Chinese ships are deployed.
02:02That's why the PCG said for the first time that the ships of the China Coast Guard are located elsewhere,
02:09based on their observations of the past few days.
02:13They want to normalize the deployment of the China Coast Guard here in this area.
02:18If they alter my status, that will already be operationalized.
02:24It will be easier for them to say that for the past so many days and then months and then years,
02:30we have been deploying Chinese maritime forces here for a long time.
02:35And that is the reason why it is important for the Philippine Coast Guard vessel to challenge the China Coast Guard vessels on a day-to-day basis.
02:46It's important for us to do that.
02:50The PCG also said that the current illegal presence of Chinese ships
02:55could be a reaction to the enactment of the Philippine Maritime Zones Act.
03:00China is probably saying that this is the way for them to counter our newly enacted domestic law.
03:09Secondly, if we remember last November or early December,
03:14the Chinese government also filed to the United Nations,
03:18saying that they have territorial sea limits as well in Bajo de Macinlo.
03:24We know from them that they never really hesitate to violate any domestic or international law.
03:30Three ships were monitored in the vicinity of Bajo de Macinlo,
03:34which became the relief of the monster ship in the EEZ of the country in Zambales.
03:40The National Maritime Council condemned the illegal presence of Chinese ships in the EEZ of the country,
03:47where a new diplomatic protest was initiated by the government to stop it.
