Here in wales we aren’t used to particularly extreme weather. We can be affected by flooding and storms, but for the most part they don’t devastate in the way we’re seeing over the wildfires in Los Angeles. so we’re asking people here in Cardiff if they’re concerned that climate change could mean more extreme weather for us in the future.

00:00Climate change is something we should be worrying about.
00:04Look at the fires in LA at the moment, unheard of, unprecedented.
00:10The weather in the summer, hotter than ever, colder than ever in winter.
00:14Something's happening, we need to address it, and we need to be positive.
00:19And that's not just one or two people, all around the world need to address that very
00:23seriously.
00:24Well, I mean, that's exactly what climate change is at the end of the day.
00:27People always thought it was just the world getting warmer, but what it is, is all of
00:32these changes to the atmosphere are causing all of these extremes in weather, like you
00:36say, the wildfires.
00:37Well, I mean, climate change obviously is a big problem.
00:41And yeah, I'd say it's the youth today that need to take charge, and at the end of the
00:47day, it's going to be us that's going to be affecting most, like you see, in time.
00:50You can see cities like Venice are going completely underwater now because of rising sea levels
00:55and everything.
00:56We don't do something soon, but we're going to have some serious problems.
01:00We need to contain this, fight it in, to see what it's like in different parts of the world.
01:08Well, I think it's a disadvantage, obviously, for obvious reasons, you know, as one of the
01:12ones you've mentioned already.
01:13But I think we're fairly lucky in this country that we don't really have extremes of anything.
01:19But those sort of happenings are pretty scary, I would have thought.
01:23I think it's everybody's responsibility.
01:25The government must take some responsibility, but financing it, I think, must be a worldwide
01:31initiative.
01:32But I'm not sure what we can do individually, but collectively, we need to do something.
01:38OK, yes, I'm getting on a bit.
01:40I feel sorry for the youngsters, because what's it going to be like in 50 years' time?
01:44We've seen tremendous changes over the last 20 years, 50 years' time, I'd hate to think
01:50what it might be like.
01:51The government needs to give better infrastructure for us to be able to make those personal changes.
01:54But at the end of the day, there are some people being ignorant to it.
