00:00Sir, do you mind if I go to the bathroom?
00:02It's right where you left it.
00:11See you in ten years.
00:13Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're looking at moments and episodes which we saw this
00:17family sitcom take a turn for the serious.
00:20Because some of these moments occur during important points of the show, a spoiler alert
00:24is in effect.
00:26Now we have the three most wonderful daughters in the whole world.
00:33Isn't mom beautiful?
00:37Is that your uncle?
00:40Number 20. Loved ones moving out.
00:43Well, I guess now is as good a time as any, right?
00:46Okay, let's pack up.
00:47The premise of this timeless sitcom revolves around Jesse and Joey moving in with Danny
00:51and his family after the death of his wife.
00:53As happy as everyone is when the two move in, we know it's really only temporary.
00:57No one takes it harder than Michelle when her uncle Jesse decides to move in with Becky.
01:02This resonates with anyone who has had a family member leave home.
01:05Are you still going to sing me the teddy bear song?
01:08No, not every night, but your daddy and Joey, they'll sing a song for you, and they sing...
01:15I'll tape it for you.
01:17I'm going to miss you.
01:20Thanks.
01:21It's an emotional time for the family, and even though they all know that Jesse won't be far,
01:25they also know it won't be the same.
01:27Luckily, he has a change of heart.
01:29Aunt Becky and Uncle Jesse's attic oasis allows them to stay in the Tanner household.
01:34Are you sure about this?
01:35I insist.
01:39Okay. As a favor to you, we'll move back in.
01:45Hey, everybody! Get up here! He waits for us!
01:50Number 19. Letting go of your kids.
01:53Now, I know we've been together every single day since you guys were born,
01:57and I know it's going to be very tough for you guys to leave me, but you've got to be strong, okay?
02:02Now, you give your daddy a big kiss goodbye.
02:05Train!
02:07Brother!
02:10After Jesse and Becky move into Danny's home as a married couple,
02:13it isn't long before they expand their family.
02:15Twins Nikki and Alex bring a lot of fun, relatable moments to the series.
02:19One that hit home for parent viewers everywhere was the episode in which they start preschool.
02:24Bye-bye, Mommy!
02:28Becky gets emotional at the thought of her boys growing up and going to school.
02:32Jesse takes the twins, and they cling to his leg, causing all kinds of commotion.
02:37Every member of the family reacts to this differently, from sadness to excitement to resistance,
02:42and all of these feelings are totally fair.
02:44Moms and dads everywhere, we see you, and so does the Full House family.
02:49Bye-bye, boys!
02:51Bye-bye!
03:0718. Going back to school
03:09I'm a dropout.
03:15Let's just move on with our lives, okay?
03:21One of the many things that we love about Jesse Katsopoulos is his character growth throughout the show.
03:25He starts as a young Playboy musician.
03:27By the end of the show, he's a devoted father and husband who never stops working on himself.
03:32In season 6, he goes to night school to complete his high school education
03:36and finds himself back with the same English teacher who made him drop out in the first place.
03:41Hey, I'm a new man, sir. No more screwing up. I'm here to kick butt.
03:45I see your English is still as genteel and elegant as that of a Viking.
03:50Not only does Jesse stick with it, his determination helps Michelle learn to tie her shoes.
03:55It's an important lesson to all of us about how it's never too late to finish what you started.
04:00Don't you want to finish school?
04:02Yes, I do.
04:04Number 17. Losing a stuffy.
04:07Should we keep Candyland?
04:09No. There's no real candy in it.
04:13You're such a nutty bear.
04:16Anyone who has ever had a beloved stuffed animal they couldn't live without as a child
04:21knows how precious that relationship is.
04:23So in this episode, when we see Stephanie lose her prized possession, Mr. Bear,
04:28it gets us right in the feels.
04:30How could you do this to me?
04:32Aww.
04:35When Stephanie thinks her bear has been donated, she's beyond upset,
04:39especially because the bear was a gift from her late mother.
04:42After Mom died, I could remember everything about her.
04:47How she looked, her voice, the way her perfume smelled.
04:55She used to sing to us at bedtime.
04:59Now it's getting harder and harder to remember.
05:03Daddy, am I going to forget all about Mama?
05:07While the family does what they can to cheer her up, like buying her replacement bears,
05:11she's unable to cope with her best friend being gone.
05:14It all works out in the end, and Mr. Bear even makes an appearance in the reboot,
05:18showing just how invaluable this stuffy is to her.
05:21Mr. Bear? It's you, it's really you!
05:25Alright!
05:27Michelle, did you hide Mr. Bear?
05:29Yeah.
05:31Number 16, getting stood up.
05:33I'll go to the dance with you.
05:35Really? Wow, great. Bye.
05:39It might help if you told me your name.
05:42Through the later seasons of the show, we get to see DJ navigating dating.
05:46In the final season, we see her younger self,
05:49In the final season, we see her younger sister Stephanie ease into the dating world.
05:53Stephanie gets stood up by a boy that she had a date with for the school dance,
05:57I've been stood up.
06:02and retaliates by standing him up when they plan another date at the mall.
06:05She learns that while it's tempting to hurt someone the way they hurt you,
06:08it's better to forgive and start fresh.
06:11Starting to date is never easy, and it's challenging to have your feelings hurt in the process.
06:15But it's necessary to go through as you grow into adulthood.
06:19Full House portrays this perfectly.
06:21Do you think we could start over?
06:23I'd like that.
06:25I'm Ryan. Wanna go get some pizza?
06:28Yeah, okay. But it's on me.
06:30Got it.
06:31Dad?
06:32Number 15, dog running away.
06:35Whoa! Honey, come back!
06:39Danny said come back!
06:41Michelle said come back!
06:46Comet was a great ferry companion to the Tanner girls as they grew up.
06:51In this episode, he's got big main character energy.
06:54After running away from Michelle on their walk, he explores San Francisco,
06:58chasing hot dog cars and meeting a hot girl dog.
07:01While he's off having the time of his life, Michelle, Stephanie and Jesse
07:05have come to terms with what has happened.
07:07Look, I don't care if he was chasing a fruit cup.
07:10Why would he chase a fruit cup? He likes hot dogs!
07:13Whatever! Let's go find him!
07:16Michelle walking alone with the dog is Jesse's fault.
07:19Stephanie takes matters into her own hands as she helps her little sister
07:22search for their pet.
07:24It's an emotional rollercoaster for all involved.
07:26And we're thrilled that Comet came home after his day off.
07:31I can see him too!
07:33Me too! Comet, you came back!
07:35Good boy!
07:37Hey everybody, Comet's back!
07:4014. Starting Junior High
07:43Yesterday was the worst day of my life.
07:46As scary as it is for parents when their little one starts school,
07:49it can be just as challenging for the kids themselves.
07:52With DJ being the oldest of the three girls,
07:54she always hits the milestones first.
07:57While that's exciting when it comes to things like dating and driving,
08:00some can be daunting.
08:02When she starts junior high, she feels out of her element
08:04when she doesn't have any classes with Kimmy,
08:06and she finds herself in a matching outfit with a teacher.
08:09That's a very snappy outfit!
08:17Because of this, DJ does a total 180,
08:20trying to look as mature as possible to appear cooler.
08:23It's something that teenage girls can relate to as they grow up.
08:26You've got to realize that this teenage stuff is all new for both of us.
08:30But honey, we can work it out.
08:33If we keep one thing in mind,
08:36we have no choice.
08:3913. Dating after losing your significant other
08:42I have a date tonight.
08:45I have a date tonight.
08:48I have a date tonight!
08:51While Jessie, DJ, and Stephanie go through their own struggles in the dating world,
08:55Danny is the most complicated.
08:57As anyone would feel after losing their spouse,
08:59he battles with loneliness,
09:01wondering if and when it's time to move on.
09:03This decision is especially difficult when kids are involved,
09:06and Danny is torn when he wants to ask out the leader of Stephanie's honeybee group.
09:10Steph, you don't get it.
09:12They're going on a date.
09:14Dad doesn't want us there.
09:15They want to be alone.
09:17DJ, wait!
09:19It's not that we want to be alone.
09:21We just want to get to know each other.
09:24It leads to one of many heart-to-hearts between Danny and his girls,
09:27as he explains that him dating doesn't mean he's replacing their mom.
09:31It's a poignant moment as the girls learn this lesson.
09:34It's clear that Danny needs this talk and reassurance just as much as his daughters.
09:39We agreed that if either one of us ever became single again,
09:43we should try to meet someone else to share our life with.
09:47So Mom would be happy if you went on a date?
09:51I think she would be.
09:5312. Breakups
09:55Go. It's a good opportunity for you.
09:57Thanks, DJ, you're the best.
10:0013. Losing Love
10:03Speaking of dating, the flip side of finding love is losing love.
10:07Full House doesn't shy away from tackling this topic.
10:10Steve is a welcome addition to the Tanner household
10:12as he dates DJ for a few seasons in the later years of the show.
10:16We love seeing them go to prom together and say I love you to one another.
10:20It breaks our hearts to see them eventually part ways.
10:23They both realize they are growing apart as they're starting to enjoy separate activities
10:27more than the ones they share.
10:29So what are you saying? We should break up?
10:31That's a scary thought.
10:34I know.
10:37It scares me too.
10:39They conclude that they are better off as friends.
10:42For now, that is.
10:58Did we just break up?
11:0011. Alzheimer's Disease
11:03I'm DJ Tanner from the Adopt-a-Grandparent program. I'm here to visit you.
11:07Well, I got a little time before love connection starts.
11:13Dealing with serious illnesses is difficult at any age,
11:16but it's definitely a foreign concept for a child.
11:19When DJ volunteers at a nursing home, she befriends a sweet old man named Eddie,
11:23and he accompanies her to a dog show.
11:25DJ doesn't know that he isn't allowed to leave on his own, but does so anyway,
11:29learning that this is prohibited because he is showing early signs of Alzheimer's.
11:33Hey, I'm getting out of here, you old goat. I'm going to a dog show.
11:38That little girl isn't allowed to take you out of here.
11:41What if you have one of your spells out there?
11:43I'm not going to have any of my spells.
11:46DJ not only has to come to grips with her mistake,
11:48but also with the fact that this man is going to get worse.
11:51She knows that will be hard to witness.
11:54He just said today was one of the best days he's had in a long time.
11:57It's all thanks to you, Deej.
11:59You can do a lot for him just by brightening up his day
12:04and giving him someone to look forward to.
12:07I'll be right back, Dad.
12:15Full House begins a few months after the tragic passing of matriarch Pamela Tanner.
12:20It goes without saying that grief and loss are a big part of the series,
12:23as her family copes with their new reality.
12:26All I know is everything today has to be absolutely perfect.
12:29Why?
12:30Because it's the girls' first Thanksgiving without their mother.
12:33When the Tanners have their first Thanksgiving without Pam,
12:36they're forced to come to terms with their pain.
12:38After Stephanie accidentally drops the pumpkin pie,
12:41they have some serious talks.
12:43I let Mom down.
12:45Why? Because of the turkey?
12:48DJ, Mom knew Thanksgiving wasn't about turkeys.
12:52It's about family, and about being thankful for what we have.
12:57I'm thankful I've got you.
12:59But it's not just about the kids losing their mom, or Danny losing his wife.
13:03In a powerful moment, Jesse opens up to his brother-in-law about losing his sister.
13:07Their interaction is heartbreaking, uplifting, and truly unforgettable.
13:12I'm missing her, man.
13:16It's hard for me to talk about it.
13:20Talking about it, that's what helps me.
13:23Talking about the memories, that's what keeps her in your heart.
13:27Number 9, Trauma
13:29This episode focuses on an earthquake's unexpected aftermath.
13:33Notably, Stephanie becomes extra clingy and attached to her dad, but refuses to say why.
13:38We'll be here with you. Yeah, we'll play any game you want.
13:41No, I want my daddy!
13:43You can't go. Don't leave me. Don't leave me.
13:47It's okay, it's okay. I won't go. I'll stay here with you, okay? Everything's alright.
13:52The situation grows worrisome, so they take her to therapy.
13:55There, she draws an image that expresses her concerns.
13:58It's only then that she's able to fully explain what happened.
14:01We learn that not knowing Danny's whereabouts during the quake deeply worried her.
14:06You should have been with me. I was so scared I'd never see you again.
14:11Steph, I'm right here.
14:15Needless to say, this episode is extremely important, as it promotes discussions around mental health
14:21and normalises taking children to see a professional when they need help.
14:25Well, your dad can call you whenever he knows he's going to be late.
14:28That's good. Then you'll always know where I am.
14:31Yeah, I like that.
14:33Number 8, Growing Up Without a Mum
14:35Despite being a rather comedic sitcom, Full House never loses sight of the fact that the Tanners are living without Pam.
14:41In this episode, Stephanie struggles with the monumental loss when she attends the mother-daughter slumber party with Joey.
14:47Well, you're just in time for some Barbie.
14:49Great. Throw an extra shrimp on for me.
14:52Joey, that's Barbie doll.
14:55Things are visibly awkward, as nobody else is in a situation like hers,
14:59so she ends up storming off and is understandably devastated.
15:04Why don't we skip beauty parlor and play something else?
15:06No!
15:08Why can't we do the makeovers?
15:11Because of me, that's why.
15:15But later on, she and DJ have an important talk about what it's like growing up without a mum,
15:21and her big sister touchingly reminds her that they can always rely on each other.
15:25We're the only ones with a dad, an uncle Jesse, and a Joey.
15:29And we have something else too.
15:32We do?
15:34We have each other.
15:35Number 7, Trust Issues
15:37After learning that one of DJ's friends is married and pregnant,
15:41Danny starts to get serious about curfews.
15:43He wants to make sure his daughter doesn't get into any trouble,
15:46especially after she asks to spend time at her boyfriend Steve's new apartment.
15:50He has his own apartment?
15:52Dad, he's in college. He wanted his independence.
15:55Well, I'm not so sure that you should be allowed in a boy's apartment without some kind of supervision,
16:00like an armed guard.
16:02He lets her go, but freaks out and heads over there when she doesn't come home on time.
16:06Predictably, chaos ensues, and Danny starts to get a little overprotective.
16:11We were watching a movie and we fell asleep. It will never happen again.
16:15You're right, it will never happen again, because you're not allowed over here anymore.
16:18This place is off limits from now on.
16:20Dad, that's totally unfair!
16:22Luckily, this culminates in an important and vulnerable talk between the father-daughter duo,
16:27and their trust in one another is beautifully restored.
16:30I guess if your mom were around, things would be a lot easier.
16:35Dad, you're doing fine. You don't have to worry.
16:396. Reckless Driving
16:41When Stephanie and Gia get into a car with two boys named Jason and Barry,
16:45the ride is anything but safe, as the guys engage in all sorts of antics.
16:50Come on everybody, all the shots on the right side of the road.
16:53Yeah!
16:54Let's give the left a shot.
16:56Yeah!
16:57Yet Steph doesn't seem to realise how dangerous the situation truly is.
17:01Instead, she characterises the experience as cool.
17:04They happen to be great guys, and they are so funny.
17:08First, Jason drove on the wrong side of the road,
17:10and then he pretended like the steering wheel was locked,
17:13became this close to a truck.
17:15Naturally, DJ grows concerned and does everything in her power
17:18to prevent her little sister from going out with them again.
17:21This obviously doesn't go over too well,
17:23but when Danny informs Stephanie that a car accident landed Gia in the hospital,
17:27she realises that Deej was right all along.
17:30I'm glad you were there for me tonight, Deej.
17:33And listen, I'm sorry about what I said.
17:36You're still pretty cool.
17:39Number 5, Getting Picked On
17:41This season three episode sees Stephanie forced by Jesse to make amends with Walter,
17:46a kid she's teased for being a nerd.
17:48As a result, though, he starts to think of her as his girlfriend.
17:51Walter plus Stephanie equals true love, forever.
17:58Forever?
17:59Forever?
18:01When her friends find out, they start to make fun of them both.
18:04Stop it! Stop teasing me!
18:09I'm not his secret girlfriend!
18:12I'm not his any kind of girlfriend!
18:14Oh yeah? Then prove it!
18:16But Jesse's earlier advice about doing the right thing,
18:19even when it's hard, finally pays off.
18:22Stephanie ends up listening and stands up for her classmate.
18:25What's so funny?
18:26She smokes her nose on parents' day twice.
18:29Hey!
18:30It doesn't feel so great to be teased, does it?
18:33No.
18:34She and her friends learn a pretty important lesson
18:36about how awful it is to be made fun of in the process.
18:40Number 4, Smoking
18:42Full House tackles the topic of peer pressure on more than one occasion.
18:45Since we watch Stephanie grow up throughout the series,
18:48she's at the center of many of these storylines.
18:50In season seven, she comes face to face with cigarettes for the first time.
18:55She's encouraged to smoke, but makes up an excuse
18:57and refuses because she knows it's a bad idea.
19:00Uh, I better not.
19:02How come?
19:03I'm trying to quit.
19:06You should have seen my last chest x-ray.
19:09However, she's torn, as she wants to be accepted.
19:12So she ends up anonymously calling Jesse and Joey's radio show for advice,
19:17which also leads to a great talk with her dad.
19:20I didn't want to tell you about this whole cigarette thing
19:22because I was afraid you'd be mad at me.
19:25Mad at you?
19:27Steph, I am proud of you.
19:29I know how hard it is to go against the crowd.
19:32When Stephanie is pressured to smoke a second time,
19:34she stands her ground.
19:36Amazingly, it enables her new friend Mickey's decision to cut back.
19:40Mickey, you coming or what?
19:42No, you guys go. I'm going to hang out here.
19:44With this scrub?
19:46If she wants to hang out with a scrub, she can.
19:49Not that there is one in here, but if there were, they got the point.
19:53Number three, drinking.
19:55Full House addresses this important topic on two notable occasions.
19:59In season three, DJ runs into some kids who are drinking.
20:02She grabs a beer from one of them while trying to put an end to their shenanigans.
20:06But when Jesse captures her, he incorrectly assumes that she was sipping on the beverage.
20:10Oh yeah, then what's this?
20:12It's beer, but-
20:13Oh, what, are you going to tell me you weren't drinking it? I can smell it all over you.
20:16Those guys were the ones drinking. I was trying to stop them.
20:19Alright, save it. We saw the whole thing. Come on, you're going home.
20:22She then has to convince him that it was just the opposite.
20:25Then in season eight, we learn that Kimmy got inebriated at a party
20:29and insisted on getting behind the wheel.
20:31Kimmy, you're in no condition to drive home.
20:34But if I walk, I might fall and hurt myself.
20:37Let's go.
20:41Oh, I told you so.
20:43The fact that DJ stopped her causes some serious tension the next day.
20:47But when the eldest Hannah kid reveals that her mom's fatal accident involved a drunk driver,
20:52Kimmy realizes the error of her ways.
20:55My mom died because of a drunk driver.
20:57I wasn't going to lose my best friend the same way.
21:08Deej, I'm sorry.
21:132. Body Image Issues
21:15This is by far one of the most shocking Full House episodes ever.
21:19It all starts when Kimmy wants to have a pool party for her birthday.
21:23You're having a pool party in November? What a dumb idea.
21:27No, they have an indoor pool. Tomorrow we can go shopping for new bathing suits.
21:31This party's going to be so rad.
21:32But the prospect of wearing a bathing suit makes DJ uncomfortable
21:36because she doesn't look like the women she sees in magazines.
21:39So she adopts some seriously unhealthy and dangerous behaviors,
21:43like not eating properly and overworking herself at the gym.
21:46In fact, she nearly passes out.
21:49Dad, DJ!
21:53DJ, are you okay?
21:55Yeah, I just got a little dizzy.
21:57Naturally, the truth comes out, and with a little help from her dad,
22:00DJ comes to understand that who she is matters far more than what she looks like.
22:06Deej, you've got such a good heart.
22:10You care about people, and that's why people care about you.
22:14And everybody who knows the real DJ thinks she's pretty terrific.
22:19Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

22:25You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
22:29If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
22:35Number one, child maltreatment.
22:38In this episode, Stephanie and Charles get paired up together for a project.
22:41The only issue is they don't like each other much.
22:44Everybody, this is Charles.
22:46Hi.
22:47Steph, I see where you get your looks.
22:49Well, thanks.
22:50Yeah, I didn't say good looks.
22:54Could we just do the assignment, okay?
22:56I can hardly wait.
23:00But we soon learn that he acts out for a reason.
23:02As they work on their assignment, Michelle tells Steph that their dad is upset with her.
23:07Charles misunderstands and reveals that his father mistreats him at home in the process.
23:11Try thinking of a funny movie like Home Alone or Roger Rabbit.
23:15That's what I always do when I'm getting it.
23:17Getting what?
23:19You know, when your dad's pounding you.
23:21Stephanie initially agrees to keep what she's learned to herself,
23:24but worries when he doesn't show up to school.
23:26By the end, she tells her uncle Jesse the truth,
23:28which prompts him to step in and contact the proper authorities.
23:32Needless to say, the whole situation is absolutely heartbreaking to witness.
23:37What's going to happen to Charles?
23:39Charles and his father need help, and now they're going to get it.
23:42Sweetheart, please believe me, you did the right thing.
23:45Then why do I feel so lousy?
23:49Because it's a lousy situation, kid.
