00:00But let's begin with, of course, the news story that's happening here in the United
00:04States, which, of course, in California, the wildfires that have just basically ravaged
00:09all of Southern California, including Pacific Palisades and some of Malibu.
00:14The NFL right now has a game to play on Monday night, so it certainly affects things too
00:18as far as whether or not that Monday night game will be played in Los Angeles.
00:22The NFL right now says that the game is on track still to be played, but if they have
00:27to move the game from L.A. on Monday, it will be moved to Glendale, Arizona.
00:33So this coming from the NFL officially late yesterday, you know, certainly this is not
00:38the contingency plan that you have to even want to talk about at this point.
00:42And so many lives have been affected with houses just basically burning down left and
00:47right over the last 48 hours.
00:49There is some good news, by the way, this morning, is that the mandatory evacuations
00:53and things like that for Hollywood, California, have been lifted.
00:57So maybe there is some positivity to come out of this over the next couple of days.
01:01All right.
01:02Now let's get to the latest in the National Basketball Association and the Cleveland Cavaliers
01:06clearly imposing their will yesterday as potentially the best team in all of the NBA.
01:11They beat the Oklahoma City Thunder last night, 129 to 122, and snapped OKC's 15-game winning
01:17streak, a huge day once again for Cleveland as they're putting up points left and right.
01:22Donovan Mitchell and company getting the job done.
01:25As of right now, if you were to look at all the teams in the NBA and say, who has one
01:29of the best chances to get out of the East, if it is not Boston, you would have to say
01:33at this point it has been Cleveland.
01:35They played the best basketball of any team in the league this season.
01:40And Donovan Mitchell said it was a signature moment after the win.
01:44I mean, it just speaks to our growth.
01:46I told everybody after the game, like, you know, as a unit, we don't win this game last
01:50year.
01:51You look at J.A., you look at Evan, you look at D.G., Max, Karras, Ty Jerome, George, everybody,
01:59Dean Wade, everybody that came in, you know, did something positive to affect the game,
02:04whether it was scoring, rebounding, defending, whatever it may be.
02:07And that's a team win.
02:08That's what it's going to take for us to be the team we want to be.
02:11And honestly, man, like, that's a big win.
02:13You know, I think we're all excited about it.
02:14And obviously, like I said, yeah, this is, you know, one game and no championships are
02:18won tonight.
02:19But it's something to be proud of.
02:21All the talk of, you know, who's in the game and all-star game, like, I think those, you
02:26know, Darius, Evan, J.A., I think they show why they should be in San Francisco, why we
02:30should all be there.
02:32I think there's no doubt.
02:33I mean, you look at tonight, you know, this is each one, all three of them had an individual
02:39impact in big moments to win us that game.
02:43And I think it would be a shame if all four of us weren't there just because of the impact
02:49we all have.
02:50It's not just about one person.
02:51This is a group thing.
02:52And we showed it tonight on the big stage, and I'm really proud of everybody.
02:55But those three in particular, they did their thing, and they carried us the way all-stars
03:01do.
03:02Once again, 129 to 122, the final.
03:05If there are injury concerns in the NFL's wildcard weekend this weekend, it is definitely
03:10the game between Green Bay and Philadelphia at this point.
03:12Now, it looks like all systems go for Jalen Hurts, who practiced yesterday.
03:17But we will know today, officially, if he is able to play this weekend.
03:22Needless to say, the biggest issue this weekend could come from the Green Bay Packers quarterback,
03:28Jordan Love, who had issues with his throwing arm and elbow last week against the Chicago
03:35Bears.
03:36Love met with the media yesterday and admitted he still has some pain in the elbow.
03:41Hey, Jordan, I didn't hear the first part, but do you have flowing back fully or constantly?
03:46Yes.
03:47So, Jordan, why did they limit you?
03:50Just based on my hand, getting back to it.
03:52So, if the feeling's back, does it still hurt in any way, or how is it affecting you at
03:57practice today?
03:58Yeah, it's more my elbow.
03:59More my elbow.
04:00Covering that.
04:01Soreness?
04:02Yes.
04:03Does it hurt when you throw?
04:04Like, do you feel it when you're throwing?
04:10Yeah.
04:12Not the best news for the Packers, but we'll see what the practice reports say tomorrow.
04:16Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers season is over, but John Lynch, the general manager
04:21of San Francisco, is very hopeful to keep Brock Purdy around.
04:25There was some discussion as to whether or not Purdy would be back with the 49ers or
04:29even if they would extend him, and Lynch discussed that yesterday, saying he wants Purdy there
04:34long term.
04:35Well, listen, I think what we know about Brock is that he's our guy.
04:39We've got, you know, we have interest in Brock being around here for a long, long time.
04:44He's done so much for our organization.
04:46He's won big games and, you know, had a little tougher task as we all did this year with
04:53some of the things that happened throughout the course of the year.
04:56We just never could string games where we were all together.
04:59And through that, he continued to lead.
05:01He continued to play at a high level.
05:02So we have every interest in him being around.
05:06You know, the way this thing goes, these press conferences are necessary, but always kind
05:10of silly because Kyle's coaching.
05:12We spend time together all the time, and there's big issues that affect the team, but he's
05:17just getting off coaching.
05:18He's had his door shut for two days doing exit interviews.
05:23You know, we were just up, but we were talking about our players.
05:26We'll have some time here in the coming weeks to sit together and put our whole plan together.
05:32That's obviously a priority, that position, and, you know, we'll give it that attention.
05:38That would be the future of the 49ers at quarterback put to rest this offseason if
05:42they do extend Purdy.
05:43Well, a game at the Orange Bowl tonight between Notre Dame and Penn State, which weather-wise
05:48will feel like Happy Valley a little bit, temperatures in the 40 degrees mark here in
05:53South Florida.
05:54Penn State, one-and-a-half point underdogs tonight against Notre Dame, total of 45-and-a-half.
05:59We have it covered for you, Scott Farrell, and all of the in-game coverage exclusively
06:02here on SportsGrid starting tonight at 7.30 Eastern.
06:06Meanwhile, Bill Belichick adds a new player through the portal.
06:10It's UConn defensive lineman Price Yates.
06:12He transfers to Bill Belichick's North Carolina Tar Heels.
06:16He had six-and-a-half tackles for loss and three-and-a-half sacks last season.
06:20Tyler Van Dyke is headed to his third school in three years.
06:24He's now leaving Wisconsin to go to SMU.
06:26He also played quarterback at the University of Miami.
06:28And Alabama's wide receiver Jeremy Bernard says he's going to return to the team in 2025
06:33and not transfer.
06:34Also in the NBA last night, Jamal Murray and Russell Westbrook help out the Nuggets.
06:39They route the Clippers 126-103.
06:42Kawhi Leonard did not play in this game yesterday, not injury-related.
06:47He flew back to Los Angeles to help his family deal with the fires and issues that were going
06:52on in Southern California there.
06:53Also Giannis 25-point-16 rebounds.
06:55The Bucs beat the Spurs.
06:57Final 121-105.
07:00The Spurs finished 18-for-52 on three-pointers.
07:03Tyrese Maxey, another big game, 29 points for him.
07:0676ers beat Washington 109-103.
07:08And the Knicks finally get a win after losing three in a row.
07:11They beat the Toronto Raptors 112-98.
07:14In college basketball last night, Ole Miss, the 23rd-ranked team in the country, beats
07:19Arkansas by a final of 73-66.
07:23John Calipari not going so well for things in Fayetteville these days.
07:28He expressed his disappointment with not just the starters but the bench players, too.
07:31We're the type of team.
07:33We're a good team.
07:34But everybody's got to play well.
07:35All nine got to give us something.
07:37They don't have to play out of their minds, but they can't play poorly.
07:41And you can't have three play poorly, or four, or one not give you anything, and another
07:46– we're going to have to play better as a group.
07:51All right, now let's get to the latest with the Southeastern Conference, Alabama-South
07:56Carolina.
07:57Mark Sears, 22 points.
07:59Number five, Alabama beats South Carolina 88-68.
08:02They've won seven straight games.
08:04Also, Zurich Phelps hit a go-ahead three.
08:06Texas A&M rallies past number 17, Oklahoma.
08:09And Eric Dixon had a nice second half to lead Villanova to a two-point win, 68-66, as they
08:15beat the University of Connecticut.
