00:00The Castorone, Saipem's flagship, a leading Italian company in engineering, construction, energy and infrastructure,
00:13crossed the Bosphorus Strait on December 27, after crossing the Dardanelles Strait and the Marmara Sea.
00:21Saipem's shipyard is currently in the Black Sea,
00:24to go and operate in phase 2 of the Sakaria project for Turkish Petroleum
00:29and will install a 175 km long pipeline at a depth of 2,200 m.
00:37Recently, Saipem has successfully completed, again for Turkish Petroleum,
00:42also the first phase of the Sakaria project, with the installation of deep-water pipelines.
00:47Sakaria is the largest natural gas deposit discovered in Turkey
00:51and is located about 175 km from the coast of Regli.
00:55In the first phase, completed in 2023,
00:58Saipem played a fundamental role in the realization of this strategic project for Turkey,
01:04contributing to the strengthening of the country's energy independence
01:08and representing an excellence of Italian engineering in the world.
01:12Castorone is an integral part of Saipem's offshore fleet,
01:16equipped with naval vehicles capable of operating even in challenging environmental conditions.
01:21It is a tube-mounted ship built in 2012, about 330 m long and 40 m wide,
01:28in addition to being one of the largest in the world and also among the safest,
01:32most efficient and cutting-edge, able to accommodate more than 700 people on board,
01:37used for operations and support and maintenance activities of the vessel.
01:42The main peculiarity of Saipem's tube-mounted vessel
01:45lies in the dynamic positioning system, which allows it to manage navigation
01:51and also park in adverse weather conditions,
01:54a feature that allows it to operate in much deeper seabed than anchored ships.
02:00In addition, with a tension capacity of up to 1,200 tons,
02:04the vessel is suitable for large-scale docking.
02:08Castorone is equipped with latest-generation welding systems
02:12and two remote-controlled submarines developed by Sonsub,
02:16Saipem's center of excellence for underwater technologies,
02:20used for construction, maintenance, monitoring and data collection in ultra-deep waters.
02:27So far, Castorone has worked on many important projects,
02:31including the ZOR project, the largest gas deposit ever discovered in Egypt,
02:36and in the Mediterranean Sea, the SCARBOROUGH project in Western Australia,
02:41in an area with a very complex and challenging morphology,
02:45in addition to various projects in the Gulf of Mexico, Argentina,
02:48the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the North Sea.
02:52To date, Castorone has installed a total of about 3,500 km of pipeline,
02:58including the docking at a record depth of 2,200 meters
03:03during the first phase of the Sacaria project.
