00:00Speaking of the parallels between Chicago and potentially the Cowboys
00:04needing a new head coach, yesterday we got some interesting news from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
00:10The Bears formally reached out to the Cowboys to seek permission to interview Mike McCarthy.
00:16The Cowboys now will make their decision if they will grant said asked permission,
00:22but if they don't, the Bears might only have to wait just seven days from right now, exactly a
00:28week when Mike McCarthy's contract runs out January 14th and thus his exclusive window
00:35comes to a close. Scott, what do you make of Chicago reaching out to Mike McCarthy
00:41and then we can talk about if he will even have a job status remaining with the Cowboys?
00:46Yeah, a couple things with that. That is so weird. Like, what has he done first off with
00:52Dallas that would make you say, all right, I want him as our head coach? I mean, he couldn't win with
00:58Dak Prescott on a big time level. Is he all of a sudden going to turn Caleb Williams into a winner
01:02and they're going to be able to win on a big time level in Chicago? And that might even pale in
01:08comparison to the other issue. And that's just, you think of Mike McCarthy, right? Despite his
01:13stint there in Dallas, you think of him as a Green Bay Packer head coach. I mean, that's supposed to
01:17be the greatest rivalry, maybe this side of Baltimore-Pittsburgh, right? The best historic
01:21rivalry in the NFL, Green Bay versus Chicago, and you're going to like cross lines. There's
01:27got to be somebody else. It's not like this guy is a 10-time Super Bowl winner, Bill Belichick,
01:34and all right, we're going to hire him as a head coach. You just can't do that to your fan base
01:39by hiring a Green Bay Packer. I mean, Aaron Rodgers is going to be on the open market.
01:43You want to bring him in too? I mean, you can't do that, man. I mean, to me, it's another case
01:48of where fans really analyze and care about this stuff more than the franchises. And they can talk
01:52about rivalries and this and that, and we hate them. And here they go, they're showing some
01:57interest. For a head coach that's basically done nothing with Dallas, it's kept them mediocre if
02:02that's an accomplishment. So the whole thing is weird.
