The Prime Minister's pre-election campaign has continued through the top end with a stop-over in cattle country. Anthony Albanese announced housing funding in Queensland and spruiked the return of beef exports to China, but it's the cost of living that remains top of the agenda as he begins the fight for re-election.

00:00The Prime Minister's North Australian sojourn took him to the Northern Territory today,
00:08alert for any danger.
00:10A goanna or a snake, let's hope it's a goanna.
00:13The destination, Lake Nash Station, home to 60,000 cattle.
00:18Nearly in the centre of Australia, it's a long way from anywhere.
00:21I think as Prime Minister I have a responsibility to not just represent all of Australia but
00:27see all of Australia as well and engage with all of Australia.
00:30He used the visit to talk up his role in China dropping its ban on Australian beef exports.
00:36As a direct result of that, exports have gone back stronger than even where they were beforehand.
00:43No matter how far away he is though, cost of living looms large.
00:48Today's inflation figures showing a February rate cut maybe on the horizon.
00:54The PM did have a six in front of it when we came to government and was rising and today
00:58it has a two in front of it and it's falling.
01:01We have a Prime Minister who is more interested in fighting Peter Dutton and fighting journalists
01:08than he is in fighting inflation.
01:10Speculation continues about when the election will be called.
01:13But the PM says he wants to return to Parliament, prioritising legislation to provide tax credits
01:20for critical minerals.
01:22We have under the ground every resource that will power the global economy in this century.
01:31Cobalt, lithium, copper.
01:33The Prime Minister's itinerary took in more than just the Northern Territory.
01:37It included $260 million in funding commitments for housing and community infrastructure.
01:43Over 4,800 homes this will support across the entirety of Queensland.
01:50While the polls are bad, the Prime Minister seems confident he can overcome them and contest
01:55a tough year ahead.
01:56After travelling from Queensland to here in Central Australia, he's on his way to the
02:01West for the next leg.
