00:00I feel light, but I just want to add one thing over here. I guess this screenplay is one
00:09of the best screenplay I must have read in my life, you know, so far. So it's, that's
00:18the only thing I can say. I'm too excited, like the way writers and Pradeep sir and Shabne
00:24sir have done it. Because I feel there's only one director and that's the script, you know.
00:31So when you get a material like this, I guess we are just blessed to have come across such
00:42a kind of a screenplay.
00:43Everybody, means like, I'm saying that there's a vibe, a story, its origin, you know. So
00:56all these people, all these actors, even like, there are a lot of non-actors. Many actors
01:01are facing camera for the first time, you know. You see their performance and what they've
01:06done is just like astonishing. I'm really, you know. So, you know, all these people
01:13or people associated with the script, they all come and create that kind of an environment.
01:20So I don't have a lot of words to say because I'm really waiting for people to watch the
01:25show and then, what they feel, I'm very interested to know that. You know, because
01:33for us, this journey is of the last 4-5 years. A lot of condensed energy has gone into it,
01:39you know. So, yeah, I'm just waiting for people to react, you know.
01:50Yeah, I'm not really overtly aware of where, how, when, sometimes. Very few times when
01:57I go and see what the canvas is, the frame is. I mostly get a sense of it and then it's,
02:04but I think that's, that's, it just comes naturally to me.
02:07That's one quality I really like about him.
02:10That's the, that's, it really reflects.
02:13And I'll take this opportunity to say that it's like, I, you know, when, the thing of
02:21working with Avinash is that, it's probably, you know, a lot of my things that, you know,
02:26I was able to build on what I took from Patal Lok Season 1, other stuff that you spoke about
02:32and also kind of got a sense of, like for me, that was like, almost like an ideal ecosystem.
02:42I mean, it's almost like a master class for filmmakers to come and see how Avinash shoots,
02:48you know, how Sudeep, what is, what the decorum and the environment of the set is.
02:55It is just almost like, you know, it's sacrosanct.
02:59And when this man's behind the camera, I would, I would feel free.
03:05That's as, that's the only way I can describe it.
03:09What he does.
03:10No, because I think like whatever we do is, whatever I do particularly, it's for the actors
03:15because they are the ones who sort of like represent everyone's energy, you know, out there.
03:20Means, if the performance is right, script is right, no one really cares about
03:25what clothes to wear. Yes, people do care.
03:28But, but, you know.
03:30Now you went into a very controversial zone.
03:33No, but, but roughly, it's like, it's the world's earnestness.
03:37I think that, you know, an actor.
03:39All my other directors would now know after this interview where my distaste for
03:47extra attention towards costume, hair and makeup comes wrong.
03:52No, no, it's, it's wonderful.
03:55Means like, ek toh, ek toh season 2 pe jab aaye toh mujhe lagta hai ki sabko ek ek surr pehle se pata tha.
04:04You know, aur usse bahut zyada help hui.
04:07And, and mujhe lagta hai ki wo, abhi, abhi wo itna sahaj ho gaya na, iss season mein.
04:12So, I, I was also when like, edit dekhne ke baad wo, ek shoot karte ho toh aapko samajh mein aata hai,
04:17but still you wonder ki when it's stitched together, how it'll look, you know.
04:22Lekin jab, is, iska jab rough cut hua and I saw and I was like, usually I get very nervous.
04:26How long was the first line-up?
04:28Line-up took a little while and we have amazing, amazing talented editor, Sanyukta Khaja.
04:33Toh Sanyukta akshar, matlab achhahi se bahut zyada woh bolti hai ki yaar tune yeh, yeh galat shoot kiya hai,
04:38yeh aisa shoot kiya hai, woh aisa shoot kiya hai.
04:40Mene bola, theek hai yaar, but lekin kuch achcha bhi bol diya karo ko bhi footage ke baare mein,
04:44bole woh mazaag chalta rehta hai humara.
04:46Toh, toh jab dekha, I was really surprised.
04:49Like, it, it, it blew my own mind.
04:52And, mene bola ki abhi thodi excitement thodi abhi, toh abhi karni padhegi.
04:56Because bahut lamba safar hai.
04:58Toh, yes, shoot khatam hoke, because it took a very long time.
05:02Very long time in the post.
05:04Writing se leke post ki journey bahut alag rahi hai.
05:09Toh, main ek detached bhi hu, material se, you know.
05:13Toh detachment se mein jab dekh raho, toh mujhe, hala ke mene show dekha hai, in logon ne abhi tak nahi dekha hai.
05:18Toh, it's amazing.
05:21It's not because like, like, I have worked on it or this or that.
05:25Very objectively I can say that, everyone has put up their,
05:31it's, it's, main toh yeh bolunga ki main iska frame mein lena nahi chahata hai kisi baat ka.
05:36Yeh kuch cheezein ho jati hai kuch.
05:37Toh yeh show mere liye uss tarah ka.
05:39Because also, I mean, if you kind of try and wrap it around your head.
05:45It's got, like, it's like when, you know, the right, like everything, all the,
05:50how do you say, all the parts fit well together, you know.
05:53Writing, direction, acting, everyone's liking the same thing.
05:58Has the, approach to them nahi ho sakti, sab alag-alag background se aate hain.
06:03Lekin ek, I think kahin na kahin, you know, there's a confluence.
06:07You do come together in spirit.
06:10And really, really believe in, like you said, you know, the, what is,
06:16sacrosanct, which is the script and the director's vision.
06:21And trust each other as actors, you know, we kind of really have that love,
06:26genuine love and appreciation for each other's work.
06:28And someone's like, you know, thinking about anything but the work.
06:32Then I think magic happens.
06:40It's a, that's a tough one, really.
06:43I think we'd be out of time if I had to start digging up and figure out what,
06:47what it was.
06:50I liked the growth of Renu's character.
06:54She was same, same but different.
06:57And that,
07:02I think there is a, there's a subtle bit of
07:06emancipation that Sudeep and Avinash have worked to create.
07:11Ek thoda sa, I don't know if this is the right word,
07:14but ek mahila sa shakti karan ki leher, Renu mein janak rahi hai, is baar.
07:19And I think for me, that was very heartwarming.
07:22Do chaate maare gaye hain?
07:24Woh show nahi dekha na, hum dono ne abhi.
07:26But I don't think chaata is real sa shakti karan.
07:29Real sa shakti karan is jab chaata ki awashakta nahi padti hain.
07:32But I think that, that empowerment of Renu for me was very heartwarming.
07:38Ki uss daire mein rehkar bhi, uss aarthik varg mein rehkar bhi,
07:43uss samajhik varg mein rehne ke baawal jood,
07:48Renu, Renu badli nahi hai.
07:50Par ussi daire mein, ussi aarthik samajhik daire mein,
07:53rehne ke baawal jood, uska phir bhi halka sa shakti karan hua hai.
07:58And that to me is very heartwarming.
08:00That you can make little changes, even in the little world that you live in.
