00:00G'day from the Bureau for your national weather forecast around the country on January 7th 2025.
00:07And for this time of year it is fairly quiet around the country with large high pressure
00:12system across southern parts of the country dominating the weather but there is still a
00:16little bit going on. We're going to see showers and thunderstorms with a trough through southwestern
00:20parts of WA. Could be a few severe storms there and also elevated fire dangers through parts of
00:25there as well. Pretty dry through central parts and through much of Queensland but showers and
00:30thunderstorms likely through New South Wales and across our trough end for this time of year but
00:35quiet in the southeast. Let's have a look at that in more detail. Firstly in Queensland.
00:40Showers and thunderstorms continue across our tropical north. Pretty quiet around the central
00:44coast with just the isolated shower or storm and also dry and sunny in southeastern parts of
00:49Queensland as well. Though heat continues across our inland areas temperatures in the low 40s with
00:54lots of sunshine. Brisbane looking at 31 degrees with lots of sunshine but some storms just across
01:00the border. Now looking at those storms in New South Wales a much cooler day on the way on Tuesday
01:05but widespread showers and thunderstorms through central and eastern parts of New South Wales
01:10and some of those storms could be severe and you can check our latest detailed severe weather video
01:14on that on our website as well. Fine in the west though with cooler conditions though heat
01:19continuing in the north looking at showery and stormy 25 degrees in Sydney tomorrow. Canberra
01:25looking at a couple of showers possible storm and 21. Now dropping down into Victoria after a wet
01:31Monday a much cooler and drier day across much of the state with temperatures in the low to mid 20s
01:37maybe getting up around 30 degrees along the Murray. Though we could see some showers and
01:41thunderstorms through far eastern and northeastern parts of the state during the afternoon and evening.
01:46Melbourne looking at a partly cloudy 25 degrees. Down in Tasmania beautiful day if you're not
01:51looking for rain temperatures in the low 20s with lots of sunshine and pretty dry conditions. Hobart
01:57looking at 19 degrees with just a few clouds but it will be pretty sunny. Sunny is the word right
02:03across South Australia on Tuesday with lots of sunshine statewide. Temperatures in the high 20s
02:08to near 30 in the south but getting up into the high 30s through northern parts and no rainfall
02:13expected across the state. Now over in WA we're going to have that west coast trough bringing a
02:18bit showers and thunderstorm activity through parts of the southwest land division and wheatbelt
02:22though likely missing coastal areas of the west coast. Pretty hot inland as well temperatures
02:27ahead of that trough into the high 30s but getting into the high 20s to low 30s for coastal parts of
02:32the west and south. Perth looking at 32 degrees while our tropical north continues with temperatures
02:38in the low 40s with showers and thunderstorms and then further across much of our tropical north
02:43Cape York, Top End and the Kimberley looking at that hot and humid conditions. Still no sign of
