00:00Sabah's ruling coalition, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, appears to be uninterested in forming

00:07an electoral pact with opposition parties for the upcoming state assembly elections,

00:12according to political analyst Biljur Bala of University Malaysia Sabah.

00:16Biljur said GRS's decision to decline Warisan President Syafi Abdul's multiple requests

00:22for an alliance aligns with GRS Chairman Haji Jinnur's strategy to continue partnering

00:27with Pakatan Harapan, which leads the federal government.

00:31Biljur said GRS has refused overtures from other opposition groups like Perikatan Nasional

00:37and Pejuang to preserve the stability of the GRS-PH alliance and maintain ties with the

00:42federal leadership.

00:44Syafi, who expressed his openness to collaborate with GRS for a united front in Sabah, said

00:50his proposals have been repeatedly rejected by the coalition.

00:54Biljur, however, said an alliance between GRS and Warisan could create greater political

00:59stability and amplify Sabah's efforts in asserting its rights under the Malaysia Agreement

01:04in 1963.

01:06Separately, Biljur's colleague Lee Kuok-tiong suggested that past Warisan attempts to topple

01:11the GRS leadership and its public criticism of Chief Minister Haji Jinnur did not bode

01:16well for Warisan's desire for an alliance.
